I still can't get the humidity above 45%, all the wells are filled and I have all the space that doesn't have eggs filled with dishes that have wet paper towels on them. What??? :barnie

What types of braces have you guys used? These guys have feathered feet, and I tried vetrap but it slides off, no matter how tight. Anyone have some pictures?

I use a small square of adhesive tape, just about any type of tape will work. Set the foot down on it with the toes in the correct position and put another piece of tape over the top. Then trim the extra tape as much as you can so it's not too bulky. Somebody had a good picture on here not too long ago... little d'Uccle feet are fine, just make sure not to bend the feathers the wrong way and tape right over them...
You'll get the hang of it. It helps if someone can hold the chick for you while you straighten their toes onto the tape.

How many chicks can a mama hen have at once?

I have 17 chicks that are supposed to hatch on Friday and Saturday. 10 under a hen and 7 in my incubator. And now I have another silkie trying to go broody. So, I am debating if I should give the mama hen all 17 chicks and put more eggs under the silkie, or let mama hen have her 10 and put the 7 incubator chicks under the silkie. What do you guys think?

@country lovinnever see my friend on FB anymore or in person so I have to track you down on BYC

I would say as many as can comfortably fit under her without her squishing one.

700

Yesterday it was 70 degrees here, today this....guess Mother Nature is having a good laugh on us. Blizzard conditions in most of Colorado eastern plains today, 17 inches in that backyard. On the positive note, we have not lost power today, incubator running along.
