@ccrane11Started up my incubator with a few eggs from my own flock. I have Rhode Island Red, Rhode Island White, Golden Sex Link, and New Hampshire Red girls. They are bred by a Rhode Island Red or a Silver Lackenvelder rooster. Will be interesting to see how the chicks turn out.
what did you come up with @BG2heumNew Q; put eggs in a box with heat/light 30-40% hmid.temp range 80-100°.(a week ) THEN got LG incubator. It stabilized at 99.5°, but humid was 80%. Not very long. How much Flux can they take at this age? Can i drown at 3 days gest? At what day to they HAVE to be stable? Why can't you open a crack at lock down? Or remove chicks to warming box? If my hen has been on and off the 4 -3 day old others
(she has one bb chick)should I try to incubate those? She'd rather play with bb than set
how are your eggs going @lazyacreCynthia12 invited me over to this tread. I'm pretty new to chickens. This will be only my second time incubating. I was going to wait until spring when hopefully my quail or Cream Legbars are laying but I won 12 Bielefelder eggs on eBay today. So I'm going to try this hatching thing again. I do have a small brooder coop and run. And also a Barn so hopefully I can keep the chicks that hatch warm through the cold months. I've chosen Cream Legars and Bielefelders to breed. I like the idea of auto sexing at birth. But I'm still pretty new so I may change my mind later.
what happened with these? were they DIS then? did I miss this post?My neighbors broody quit so she stuck two eggs in my Bator. They are around day 14 right now. How ccan I tell if they are still alive? They were cool to touch when she brought them over.
CALLING ALL EXPERIENCED QUAIL HATCHERS!
any and all tips for hatching quail please!!![]()
UPDATE!!!!!!!!! whats going on????? @ambe0487@Sally Sunshine I quickly candled tonight when I got home. One internal pip & two un-pipped.. How long before I need to worry if it doesn't externally pip?![]()
Thank you all again for your support!
FINALLY!! how cute!!! WELCOME TO THE NEW THREAD!!!
really great actually! i doubled the trays holding the eggs for more stability and the rocks work great for dispersing the moister....kind of like a chicken sauna
i have 24 eggs so i am just switching the two trays positions when i turn the eggs...less contact, less heat and moister loss. i just have to be careful not to dump he trays.
the air cells on all my eggs were rather small, or unpresent so i have the humidity low 30% range...i will candle at day 7 and reassess
