Stranger!! Happy Easter!!Happy Easter everybody. It has been so nice here and with the time change, working until 9-10 pm every day. So needless to say, haven't been on too much. All this beautiful weather and then we wake up to 4" of snow this morning. Right now I'll take any moisture I can get but would have rather had a nice soaking 1 or 2 inch rain. Was planning on working most of the day until the family comes over later this afternoon but I think I'm quite content to feed and call it a day.
Hope everybody has a great Easter Day.Str
@newbiechixGood Easter Morning everyone! After almost 2 years since having my last chickens due to an unexpected move, I am finally getting back to it. I got my eggs yesterday from a local-ish breeder (actually drove a few hours away, but that's still better than shipping, right?) and put them into my Brinsea this morning. The only issue is that I actually have a few too many for the auto-turner to do it's job and the extra incubator I ordered won't arrive until Tuesday (huge shipping snafu. The one they shipped last week was broken and I had to get a new one shipped). I've never turned eggs by hand before, but figure I can do that for a few days so they'll be hatching on the weekend when my nephew can be here to watch (he's VERY excited). Soooo... how much should I turn them (angle)? The Brinsea turns the eggs between 90 and 120 degrees each time. Is that what I should mimic by hand? Or should I turn them the full 180? Is it ok to have them stand on end (pointy end down of course)? Sorry for the dumb questions. I'm not new to hatching, but I've always been able to let the Brinsea do all the work before.
BEAUTIFUL IMAGE!!!

@chickygirl7 I HAVE EGGS LEFT UNHATCHED NOW WHAT? post #25223HELP!
I'm on the beginning of day 21 with my 10 cream legbar eggs. One of the eggs has been rocking and chipping a lot, and I've just noticed its pipped on the pointy end of the egg. Is it a problem? I'm still a newby to hatching and this is my second hatch. No other eggs have pipped yet.
Thanks in advance.

I DONT KNOW BUT its cute!! its head is huge!!Can y'all PLEASE help me??? Lol this little one has me perplexed!!! What is he/she???
This little one will be 2 weeks old tomorrow and looks pretty different from all the others in its age group!
It's not bigger than many of the other chicks but seems tallish when it stretches itself out to stand tall like it does sporadically. It's wings are TINY compared to all the other chicks & not feathered out nearly as much as the other chicks and its stature is much different....partially feathered feet...
Thoughts? There was a possibility to end up with turkey but I don't think that's what this is...any help is VERY much appreciated! This little one sticks out like a sore thumb - it also went beak to beak with the polish chick, wings outstretched, like they were squaring up to fight (several times!)

CH thats a pretty hen!!! and baby!! congrats!
BEAUTIFUL PICS!!
let me know if you need anything BJ!!So I bought a chick this morning who is showing signs of wry neck now. I'm thinking the stress of the move brought it out. Poor thing keeps turning its head to the side and walking in circles. I started vitamin e and selenium supplements already but I don't know how much to give. I haven't separated the chick because I think that would be more stress. The chick has its head normalish, not turned and upside down yet. Hopefully I can prevent it from getting that bad!? They are on good food, but I just bought them at 10:30 today. Siblings are fine, it's one out of the seven amerecuanas I bought today. PLEASE quote me if you reply so I can find the reply, the board gets busy sometimes and I can't read all the pages lol
Lol.
Not to rub it in Banti, but my momma Muscovey and her mate were wandering the barn and their pen today, looking for a good place to set their nest.
I have nest boxes in their pen, but they are still covered in snow. :/
They are forecasting highs in the low forties for the next several days, so hopefully the rest of the white chit finally disappears this week!![]()
MC that's just mean! (But I love it! )
