Ok one of my pipped eggs died. I opened the shell after I saw it stopped visibly breathing and it hadn't absorbed its yolk. I'm guessing maybe yolk sac infection? Hope the rest are ok... 4 out, two more big pips and one tiny pip that I'm worried about...may be DIS.

Yup cattywampus. All crooked and wrong.

Sally is't crooked! :gig (In case your on mobile, her title is "Cattywampus")

Pretty sure the guy at tractor supply thinks I really am the crazy chicken lady...he's the one that helps me every time I'm there...& he hasn't even seen half of my chicks lol.

And I MIGHT have just dug down into our big outdoor trash container a bit so I could better hide the tractor supply chick days box from my husband!!

Unfortunately, the boot is the only way to deal with it. I think we all agree that it's mean, but it's self defense.
You can carry him around like a football several times for twenty minutes or so. Then it is time for the pot. I had a rooster that I chose above all the others, and I really couldn't tell you why. He was a red sex link, the others were a Rhode Island red, five Columbian Rock, and a White Rock. Plenty of great choices, but I was dumb enough to keep a mutt just because he was the under dog. He attacked me in the face three times before someone came and took care of him.
Please don't ever forget a mean rooster has mean offspring.
As for or "why now?", I'll bet part of it is because it's spring, but also they are just reaching their maturity.
I tried the football routine; got bit 4 times for my trouble. Even carried him around upside down by the legs for a while; could've saved the time & energy.

@Sally Sunshine
 I ended up with 12 chicks from the 16 that made it to lockdown.

I will be setting again tomorrow evening or Friday, depends on the condition my eggs arrive in because my post office didn't hold them for pick up! :he  I'm so mad! :barnie Wahhhhhhhhhhh

Omg that's so frustrating!!!! That happened to me and I was so mad with USPS!! sahwithchicks (Nicole) sent me 8 hatching eggs and she put all over the box in NEON to NOT take on route and out to call me - even wrote my number on top of the box and I CALLED USPS and told them what to expect and that when it came in, call me ASAP and I'll pick up - do NOT deliver!!
They said ok...& as soon as they came in they put the box on one of the dang jeeps here for delivery!!! (And I know that worker and she drives like a crazy person!!) ughhhh!!!

I had to track her down and get my box but she's already been out for several hours with them.

@Sally Sunshine - hatch update. Lockdown today, having a bad run and only 13 into lockdown out of 46. Had incubator spike early. Pretty disheartening, not sure how or if any will hatch as 6 Of those I cant even see into, they are OE and Wellies.
Sorry about your heat spike.
