BAAAAAABIEEEEEEEEEES!!!!!!!!!!!!!
love.gif

I picked these up from USPS this morning. Hard to get photos of all of them, they are zipping around a lot.

8 German Hew Hampshires
9 Copper Marans: 6 Blue, 2 Black, 1 Splash
3 Olive eggers
1 Lavendar Ameraucana

BLUE COPPER MARAN

BLUE COPPER MARAN ("Take the picture already, Mom!")

LAVENDAR AMERAUCANA

SPLASH MARAN

And this is what happens when you try to take selfies with them and they are WAY too interested in the phone. Chickie photo bomb!!!!!

I'm taking the day off at home to "look after" them (not that they need it, apparently). They are totally fine, strong, healthy, and bouncing around, but I've still been enjoying watching them. Time for a nap, though (was up late finishing the quiche lorraine - which turned out quite well!)

finally took time, not all of them as they started poopin on my couch back but here some new chicks of kiddos, Tolbunt Polish
Wow Sally those are beauties!! :love
700
Here r the two that hatched , i have two pipped but one pipped more towards the middle of the shell
Awwww cuties!!
That's called job security
LOL
Bull riding & bronc riding ain't noted for longevity! Friend of mine from years past ( now deceased ) wanted me to get into team penning with him, but I didn't figure a TWH was the optimum breed for that kind of work.
I team penned for years and one of my mom's friends/ team mates rode a gaited horse lol. They actually got the job done pretty well

I got a walking dead tee shirt on....
Probably do a better job....

Awesome! I want one.

What, should I do I emailed them they said if they haven't shipped by Friday to email them back. What do I dod
You can try calling them.
If they come 3 or more days apart, I'd go ahead and set the first eggs and set the others when they come doing a staggered hatch. You just won't be turning while the first ones have their humidity raised. It shouldn't hurt the others. The first 2 weeks are the most critical for turning.
That's the best I can come up with.

Ehhhhh I COULD but someone won't be there to monitor it all the time so it kinda worries me...
Use a 150 or lower wattage ceramic heat emitter. Well secured in a brooder fixture it shouldn't be a fire risk.

Wow that's strange our tsh can't seem to sell them here in Lodi California.

Always tons plus they are getting big. I just say no to hatchery chicks now.
Of course I have seven dogs I take care of. Three in show coats so I am plenty busy
Location, location, location. The feed store closest to me has a sister store across the river in the next county. They both get equal numbers of chicks and when my store sells out, they get all the ones from the other store cause they never sell out. And that store is more rural.

Good grief that would be busy! I was just caring for my mother in law's litter of border collie/blue lacy mixes...all I have to say is TEN PUPPIES. Never again...(we were told she couldn't have puppies...) guess who's going to get spayed for REAL once all the puppies go home?!!!
A friend of mine desperately needs a border collie. She does goose work. One of her dogs died a couple years ago and her remaining dog is so old it shows no interest in the geese any more.
If you know of any, let me know.

Duh why didn't I think of that. I was just thinking there was some handy way to store it all in my byc account
I just add them to my favorites but you can also subscribe to a thread if you want updates.

Would a 30 minute vinegar soak hurt an egg before it goes into the bator?
@casportpony
Probably not 30 minutes. An overnight soak will completely dissolve the entire shell.

Ok so I pickle some quail eggs with Fat Daddys amazing recipe and this is why I thought if it.

For those who have candled Coturnix Quail eggs you understand my drive.

MAYBE
for eggs at ambient/eggshell temp of 70-75

A 5 minute soak and or light cleaning in 90-95 degree vinegar....

My Friggin candler is 278 lumens and it can still be difficult

Good idea on the warmer vinegar. I make my ascorbic acid bath between 100 and 110.
