What is it for?
Ascorbic acid can be used as a vitamin supplement (vitamin C). Or as a hatching egg bath. It is supposed to decrease stress in embryos and thereby increasing hatch rates and vitality in chicks.

ChickenCanoe...where does your friend live? We're in North Texas and have 2 males and 2 females left (mother in law is asking $60 each because of food, worming meds, etc)

I'll include a couple pics!

Thanks. She's in St. Louis, MO. I have a call out to her. She would probably drive down to get it.
Just from the dogs she's been trying to get I believe she needs a *****. Perhaps she'll take two and see which one trains better.
I don't know what a blue lacey is.

1.You will kill the mpbenfitial mycroflora on the shell( " bloom" ) and you will turn your eggs
Vornubel to infection.

2. The vinger will dissolve some of the calcium in the shell and that will increase the evaporation from the egg, and will grater the chance
Of patohgen infection!

Not a good idea in my opinion!

Excellent points.
I was thinking after the bath, you'd need to keep them very sterile. Like using latex gloves to handle them.

Lol ahhhhh!!!!!! Yes some people we known didn't want their border collie anymore - they told us she was sterile and had run with male dogs for 6 years...never been bred. So we took her and gave her to my mother in law - she already had a blue lacy but he needed a pal because someone stole my MIL's other dog awhile back.

Several months later..."Wow...looking mighty fat...aka pregnant!)" I sent pictures of the puppies to the people that gave us the border collie and the wife says "omg!!!? Are those HER puppies???!!!" I said "YUP!" And she said "I'm SO sorry....we really didn't think she could have puppies!"

SURPRISE

Animals are so smart. She didn't let her self come into heat until she was in a good home.
