Maybe she has a nest somewhere.
I probably won't have them again until I live where fences aren't an issue. They are very good layers of nice white eggs though.
I've settled on a single breed that is very respectful of fences. They will go under them though if there's any gap at all. I have a lot of fence work to do. Hens have already decimated most of my early garden.

I've seen birds with clipped wings continue to flap and walk up a fence to get over.

Have you considered adding a little height to the fence? Perhaps some flimsy chicken wire cantilevered inward toward the chicken yard side.
Often, they go over when they have something solid to land on at the top of the fence.

I did that last year, didn't help. Clipping was the only thing that worked.

@ChickenCanoe@MotorcycleChickGood morning guys!
@flocktasticI hope you got some rest and everyone feels better today.
@LittleLakePhil I hope you got some rest and feel better soon. Have a nice day fishing, and enjoy it. Don't worry about the old job. They don't care, they just want their lives to be easier. I work sixty hour weeks and help out with extras, but when I hurt my ankle at work and had to miss several days because I could not drive they could not be bothered to let me do office work I am qualified for, but had a temp. I was just out of work and wages. They have a different worker in me now.
@kwhites634Did the mower go better?
@hippiestinkI am glad your bird is back. Any luck on the job front?

Not really looking for a new job right now. Working on my Etsy store, I want to eventually make a living off that.

@BantyChooks That's what bathtubs are for! Besides, that leaves three weeks to build. The heck ever heard of building the coop before you had the babies?
Only 3wks to build? Uhm, you apparently don't know me. Anything I do gets sidelined, stopped, or I run into significant trouble at least once...

And I did get my coop before I got chooks, so there!

PS. I do kinda still need my bathtub even when there is ducks in there... so nope, sorry.

I think whites does it backwards like that as well. Ducks take 4 weeks though.
Not being a carpenter by trade, I make my share (and someone else's) of mistakes when building anything, I can live with them, or fix them. I'm a perfectionist, ... remember the 16" firewood) so I usually fix them. I also wind up making way too many trips to Lowes for tools I own but can't find, or material I forgot or didn't know i needed ( aka CRS ). Add to that various interruptions, such as sleeping, eating, procrastinating, keeping the woodbox stocked, fixing ATV's & mowers, tending to DW's needs, and a lot of non-building time is consumed,

Were I to hatch out chicks before having proper housing for them beforehand, they'd be grown & hiding eggs all over 3 acres.

So now who's doing things backward? Huh?
