Thoughts needed I have a year old hatchery Buff Orpington who was always a bit bossy and flighty, nothing crazy but she was always the most "cautious" of my hens. Anywho lately ( the last 2 weeks) she's been puffing up and hissing at me when I catch her on the nest box, but she doesn't stay on it so I collect the eggs as usual and I don't think she's broody (is she pre-broody possibly). Today she puffed up at me in the run and hissed and feint charged me in the run, and generally acted super bossy. Here is a pic of her all puffed up. She won't take her eyes off of me 2 chickens have recently been removed from the coop, could she just be acting out because her rooster is gone?
If she's leaving the hest when you give her the boot than she's probably not broody. Removing the other birds has shaken up the pecking order. She might feel like this is her chance to make a power play and you're the top dog.
you may have some very pretty legs but its what's a little further up that bothers me lol. Whoops forgot this ain't granny thread.
Eggs are cooking just fine. Maybe I shouldn't say cooking since that's the last thing I did to the little ones.
doing good.

ok you will need a hygro, and I would be sure to up the temps to 99.5 to 100 have you calibrated your thermometers and know never to go with the one that comes with it?
most of us have three and sometimes more thermo hygros in our bators, temps and humidity are very important.
we typically start Large fowl eggs at a calibrated 30-+35% and then adjust as needed day 7 candle and on for the correct weight loss in the egg. sounds like you should check into that info I gave you.
A picture is worth a thousand words...

Temp okay "ish", but wow, look at the three different humidity readings! This was dry, as in no water in it.
Maybe y'all could say a little prayer for my husband...he's the kind of guy who NEBER gets sick and even when he IS sick, he never misses a day of work for anything. He has gotten so sick, he came home from work early today and he's had horrible chills, fever up to 104...horribly achy. I've never seen him this ill. He even told me a little bit ago that he feels so awful, he doesn't think he can even drive anywhere tomorrow (he typically takes kids to school for me on his way to work)
I'm really worried about him...I text our Dr and he thinks it's a bad case of the flu & it took me, my mother in law and the dr to convince him to even take Tylenol to bring the fever down a bit.
My oldest son that's been sick is getting better but he wasn't sick with this same thing. We've had a rough time since last week.

Thanks again, I've already set the eggs and am not sure I'll be able to pick up a hygro Meyer but I'll only fill the middle two channels the first 18 days, that should be about 30% hopefully, then in lockdown I'll fill al the channels and I'll be sure to increase the temp a touch
