I have 32 backyard mix due to hatch today in my LG 9200 still air. Some are hatched already. Wish me good blessings. :)

Good luck.... :fl

I'm setting some more in 6 days, I hope I have a hatch like last time. :fl

I had one of my babies from just before Easter die.  I found a local vet that will do the necropsy right there in the office.  I have a 3:00 appt to take it in.  This is the second chick out of 70 that I've hatched that has died mysteriously. The first one I thought it had drowned, but this one was nowhere near water.   I'd rather rule out something that might impact all 40 of the chicks it was hanging out with.  I hope it isn't anything serious.

Hi Jessimom did you assist any of the 40. I assisted 5. 5 have died. All others doing real well. I know I said I wasn't going to assist. Just reinforces my decision next time. I also think my fans attributed to the dryness even though the humidity was up for lockdown.

How easy it is for a day to go from "I can handle this!" to "Who even cares?"
In a heartbeat. Sounds like you're at the who cares point.

I usually hit the "who even cares" right before my DH gets home from work.
OOOHH!

@MotorcycleChick Who cares! You handled today! have you seen the posts you've put up! You got a LOT done today!!! GO make your self a cocktail, you deserve it!

@mrleeroy question for you as far as your town zoning, Have you considered checking to see that your property could be grandfathered? How long have you had chickens there? Anyone before you have chickens there? Maybe even a petition for the area?
There are 37 people interested in starting a chicken meetup group in Indianapolis. That would be a way to find like minded individuals that are also residents. Safety in numbers.

That's still not a bad percentage. However, you are doing the right thing ruling out something serious. I always do it but few vets around here (within 50 miles) will do it and the ones that will are prohibitively expensive. I drive mine 5+ hours round trip to the vet school.
Sometimes I'll do it myself but if it seems like it could be contagious I'll go to the lab.

Ms,Sally sunshines thermometer shows 100.6 and the one with the probe is in a egg cup and shows 36.0 what do I do
Those are way off. They were closer to each other the last time you posted temps. I'd tend to trust the one in the cup being closer to internal egg temp. However, do you know how often the two thermometers sample? That could be what you're seeing. Sit and watch both and see how often they change. If Sally's samples more instantaneously, then your temp is probably too low.

My mom just called to ask me when the chicks that she took home can go outside. I told her that they had to be feathered. She started complaining that they keep jumping out of the box and running all over her house and she doesn't have another tub that's taller. I asked if she had a screen on the top, she said no. Problem solved.

Or bigger boxes. You can cut doorways between multiple boxes to make any size brooder you want. Large moving boxes at Lowes are about $1.39.

Exactly why I don't assist. I don't need a flock of needy birds reproducing their kind.
