Sleeping in the bushes?! Hope you don’t have too many predators there - mine would be racoon food - or froze hahaha!

No raccoons here — our seasons go from hot to hotter. Last night the girls decided to sleep together in a tree like a couple of delinquent teenagers avoiding curfew. Apparently the coop is now “strictly for egg-laying, not sleeping,” which is a brand-new development.

I know they hate eating in there because the hundreds of hermit crabs ambush them like tiny snapping piranhas… but we also spotted a massive rat the other day, and I’m pretty sure that’s what sent them running for the treetops as my leghorn doesnt have a backbone.

I got one... and a silkie one at that. The others have stopped laying due to molt, and I am unsure if they will start again or wait till spring.

Got 3 for now but I have watched a few of them come out of the box
