My 18 chicks from the Halloween HAL. I took some guesses on boys or girls. I think the are 7 boys at least.

Thanks hun. I'll give her a bowl of water with her feed in addition to the water bottle she has. Maybe that'll help. She was doing it again last night after she was fed again. I leave her dish with food but she sure does pig out & eats it all up by the time I get off work.

I wanted to comment on a few things but I was too busy trying to catch up & then my computer at work crashed so...back to reading these!

So we lost Eggbert today. He was having pasty butt issues, and he was acting just fine yesterday, then this morning he came out to eat with the others, fell on his back and was paddling the air, couldn't get back up. His butt was clear this morning, but his stomach was rock hard, and dark colored. It looks like his navel wasn't all the way healed, and I'm pretty sure it got infected

He was drinking just fine, and we were trying to give him some electrolytes, my husband wanted to start giving him antibiotics, but by the time he got home with it, he was too far gone. I feel so bad, because we could have prevented it if I had noticed it before moving to the brooder box. We have iodone...

Poor Eggbert, he was only 3 days old.

So sorry.

you mentioned she lost a kiddo. Just putting out when my daughter died we found the group compassionate friends to be immensely supportive, especially the Facebook group.
yep. Band is on the one with black legs
I think this only works for fast feathering breeds or something like that!

. I hate those water moccasins. We used to mess around with them when I was a little lad in GA. Had one go across my feet once, and my mother may have chopped more than one up with a hoe. I'm glad your wife survived and is recovering.

Oh no!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! That's horrible!!!!! We used to have them when living in East TX, that's just awful!!! Here are just rattlesnakes and they have my fear now.........used to not bother me till I called the game dept and learned the small ones do not have buttons. Barefoot no more. Uhg hospital bills are ridiculous for anyone to deal with on top of trauma as it is.
