We had a kid in Basic Training, in San Antonio, who lived just down the road in the border town of Brownsville. Whenever we got leave, he headed home, where he had a girl. The cotton picker was the most envied guy in the barracks!

Missed the condoms and cigs both. Heard stories about both though. condoms were to cover rifle barrels in field conditions and cigs were because smoking was socially acceptable and expected during those times.
