More of ponds than lakes. There is a river though. Not extremely familiar with rivers here but I think its one of the largest in the state.

Too flat on this end of the state for waterfalls.
I love the western part of your state. We used to drive all the way there from here just to camp near where North Carolina, South Carolina and Georgia meet on the Chatooga river just up the road from Oconee State Park in South Carolina. In the Cashiers, Sapphire, Highlands area are some awesome waterfalls. We backpacked to the top of one of the highest in the East. I think it was Tom's Creek Falls but can't remember for sure.

On highway 64 on the way to Bridal Veil falls from Highlands, there's an awesome wine bar and restaurant called 'On the Veranda' with a screened porch the length of the building perched over Lake Sequoyah.
Anyone familiar with the area?

How about lobster tails and asparagus in butter wrapped in foil to go along with grilled filet mignon. That's what my wife brought the first time we camped at the place I described above. That's before we were married. We've always eaten well on campouts. Simply, but well.

So if i were to look at ducks, i want pretty, and docile, but also need to be able to fend off a german shepherd. Don't care about egg production

What breed?
Doubt you'll find much short of a Golden Eagle that could fend off a german shepherd.
I'm shocked.

My dog used to ignore the chickens until my sisters dog decided to show my dog how much fun it is to chase and kill them, zap collar doesn't stop her either
i try to leave her on her run when they're out but can't do that all the time so i keep a VERY close eye on her

Sorry to hear that about the dogs. Mine usually ignores them when she's on a leash but if she gets out of the house she'll chase after them. She's not very smart because all the birds are as big as she is. I'm sure she'll be very sorry if she ever tangles with my roo Roscoe.
