I'm okay, thank you. :hugs
Last night we bbqed at my mother's, and made s'mores in the fire pit.

Today we are going to meet at the bagel shop (Starbucks next door! :bun ) and most of us (six adults!) are going to take the three kids to Chuck E Cheese (it's an indoor kid's amusement restaurant, Benny) and maybe a movie while the widow and my oldest sister do errands.

Jack, if you get those eggs to hatch that I sent you after the PO lost them for 6 days, it will be a miracle. I can't even imagine what happened to them. One thing I do wonder about though is the condition the eggs were in when you got them. I had them packaged Sally's way & additional packing material. I'm wondering if their extended stay in MI included being in a unheated vehicle or loading dock. That could have caused the 3 to crack & 3 of them to be broken. Makes me still scratch my head. Did you candle the tops yet to see how the air cells are?

No.
I barely been home.
Pretty sure someone threw them or was damaged by a sorting machine or such.

I'm still kicking.... You been buying more eggs?

I got a couple little webs hatched out today!
very cute. I hope you got some sleep.
On the coop, I also changed the new one so the back where I access is the tallest and the tin just extends over the run instead of being added on the chicken side.
I have the tools too, but they can cut the plywood sheets perfectly straight on the machine long and short ways.

Ok, I picked up both boxes. The PO could offer no explanation on why. The guy is really nice there and he said there really is no recourse, since it's not lost, or damaged. But the shipper needs to file

Both boxes went through Kent, WA. The second box has half dark eggs I can't see in, and have light colored. The air cells are SERIOUSLY saddled and/ or ruptured. The AL box had dark eggs. There was one I could clearly see the air cell floating freely. So, at least 1 detached A/C. The rest, I need to wait until night time. I just don't have a dark enough room to candle these dark eggs.

I will give them all a chance - let's see what happens!!
Good luck.
A closet? I have a bathroom with no windows I use.

@Chaos18

I ain't believing this crap.!!!!!
After spending 3 days getting the mower to start, I throw a drive belt.
Got a new belt, fought 2 hours getting the @#$% thing on
Now the freaking engine won't start again...NOTHING...just like before.

Buying a new battery after supper, just in case the small engine mech coming tomorrow says the one I have is shorted.
I know it's no help, but I feel your pain.
It always seems to happen when the grass is growing.

That is the reason I have always preferred cats and fish to dogs. You can leave out a big bowl of food, and bowls of water (or as they prefer, the toilet seat up), and leave for up to a week. For my fish, I have an automatic feeder I use when we leave. My dog would eat a weeks worth of food in one sitting. Never mind having to go outside 3 or more times a day.

But, now that my folks live with me, I have built in animal watchers. I know that my mom is at her absolute limit of what she will watch. I think my dad wouldn't mind a goat or a pig. I would not want anything that would need milking! I have no desire to get up that early....When the weeds get really tall, I keep thinking I'd like to borrow a couple goats for a few hours. But, we only get the weeds once or twice a year, so I can't justify owning a goat....but I'm still thinking about a miniature pig.
The fish don't even miss you when you're away.
I rarely leave now but most of the chicken houses are set up for 5-7 days with auto water and bulk feed if need be.

If it was over-compression, I'd think it would try to engage the starter, even if it couldn't turn over. This is acting like there's no battery within a mile. Besides, it ran like a scalded dog two days ago after you, CC, & Joey gave me all the help. Now it won't even click. Beats the h3ll out of me! Hopefully, I'll get some answers tomorrow.
Could the drive belt have the engine bound up? Or the starter bound? It should still make a noise but possibly not.

Hi everyone! It's been a while since I dropped in. I'm almost 100 PAGES behind lol. Hope everyone is good and I didn't miss anything exciting.

It was a beautiful day here today! We were super busy all day working outside. I even got some sunburn! We borrowed my dad's truck and picked up a load of mulch. Turns out we'll have to borrow his truck again since one load was nowhere near enough. We also picked up some 6 x 8 ft fence posts from tractor supply to use for raised boxes and had 5 tons of top soil delivered. We didn't even get to that before hubby had to go to work. The chickens were quick to discover the new mulch and promptly started digging in it hmm.png I'm still waiting for them to notice the giant pile of dirt in the garden lol.

Tomorrow, we're making a trip that I really don't want to make. My Pappy has a friend that owns a chicken farm that he's just dying to take me to and show me. I guess this guy has 10,000 chickens (laying hens) supposedly free range. My aunt was there and said that they all have their beaks trimmed and have minimum coop space (not surprised). She said that I'm not going to like it. Pappy is so excited to show me but I really don't think he has any clue. It's going to be so hard not to cry but I have to try my hardest not to. Pappy isn't in the best health and has been in and out of the hospital a lot lately and I don't want to show that I'm upset over it all. Wish me luck. I'll have to report back on how it was.
Let us know how they're kept.
Some people beak trim as habit even if they're free range because they think it's necessary. They just don't know better.

I've got to either build or buy a coop
I was thinking about one of those kits only because I've got so much other stuff too do i don't have any time.
How about a prefab storage shed and modify it with a roost, windows and nest boxes. They're usually pretty tight for critters.

If you use standard dimensions that don't require a lot of cuts, you can build one a lot cheaper and it is not hard. Lowes will even cut your plywood for free when you get it.
Lowe's (at least the one by me) has an outdoor area where they put cull lumber for half price. It's warped or split but good for chicken coops. I've bought several pallets and built my breeder complex and another building on the cheap.

I'm okay, thank you.

I wish you and your family strength.
Life's not fair.

I have to get chicken chores done early. My intermediate chicken class is at 10 and the college is an hour away.

Good morning or afternoon whichever applies! Off to start chores. It was so nice to sleep in till I woke up at ten till six. I am usually up 4:15-4:30.
Have a great day!

Quote: Oh, me, too!!!!! I was enjoying the Banti-baiting because I also found all the images ridiculously cute, but had NO desire to actually get any. Best of both worlds!

I hope you have a good day.

Quote: I have a lot of windows, so it's really hard to find anywhere dark during the day. I ended up just always candling at night, so I could control the light with a lamp.

OK, off to check the scalder and do the deed. Wish me luck.
