It's only a 2004 GT. The neighbor was working on the engine. His teen daughter got her license and a car. They needed the room in his garage. My mother wasn't living here, so let him store it here. With my sister now a widow with three kids, my mother retired once and for all. The car has to be moved somewhere else.

I dont think I have ever seen this thread so quiet..... Hope everyone is just deciding to enjoy their Saturday.
Good to see you!

Yup - Just came back in. I had to deconstruct my Coop of Sadness and my Frat House PVC Coop - the PVC coop was essentially PVC, hardware cloth and LOTS of zip ties. LOTS OF ZIP TIES. Like, it took me about 2 hours to cut them all.

Then chicken chores, then quality time with my littles, including little Joan Jett (I name my chickens like I have named my cats in the past - they remain unnamed until it is "revealed" to me). This funky little girl has a very messy, nearly black crest (she reminded me of Joan Jett, hence the name). She's been posing for her new album cover:

How is it that I got so much done today and still feel like I didn't get much done?

I think I may need to go to bed early and just start over tomorrow...

Congrats.  Go to bed already!  I got up to one little grey chick from the first shipped batch.  My GD wants you all to know that she was the first one to see it.  It's talking up a storm.  No other egglets talking yet that I know of.

Hi LG...I ended up with four little webs.... Yay!!

very cute. I hope you got some sleep.
On the coop, I also changed the new one so the back where I access is the tallest and the tin just extends over the run instead of being added on the chicken side.
I have the tools too, but they can cut the plywood sheets perfectly straight on the machine long and short ways.

Good luck.
A closet? I have a bathroom with no windows I use.

I know it's no help, but I feel your pain.
It always seems to happen when the grass is growing.

The fish don't even miss you when you're away.
I rarely leave now but most of the chicken houses are set up for 5-7 days with auto water and bulk feed if need be.

Could the drive belt have the engine bound up? Or the starter bound? It should still make a noise but possibly not.

Let us know how they're kept.
Some people beak trim as habit even if they're free range because they think it's necessary. They just don't know better.

How about a prefab storage shed and modify it with a roost, windows and nest boxes. They're usually pretty tight for critters.

Lowe's (at least the one by me) has an outdoor area where they put cull lumber for half price. It's warped or split but good for chicken coops. I've bought several pallets and built my breeder complex and another building on the cheap.

I wish you and your family strength.
Life's not fair.

I have to get chicken chores done early. My intermediatefframe ken class is at 10 and the college is an hour away.

Howdy Bud.... Yeah my wife found a nice A frame coop design on BYC.... I'm gonna let her pick so she doesn't Hassel me about All this hatching stuff....;)

Yes, it's always best to allow the Mrs to be a part of the process. Lots less grief by doing that!!!

After digging several holes and setting posts, rolling out 150' of 6' chicken wire, and stapling it up, I almost completed the containment pen. I still have to build a gate, run some guy wire along the top and bottom to stiffen the edges, and stake the bottom down so there won't be any chickens slipping out underneath. Sounds like another full day of activities with this pen. It sure is taking a lot of time away from building on the new 12'x16' coop. And guess what? I get to put up another 150' of 6' chicken wire around it as well! YAY!!! These pens won't be designed to keep critters out, but only to keep chickens in. With a killer dog next door, I can't risk losing anymore. The new coop and runs will be predator proof... as are the current two. The containment pen will allow the chickens to (semi) free-range, but as always, they'll be locked in at night.

After I stopped working on the new pen, I decided to relax and watch the chickens for a little while. The BR's that I hatched in December kept hanging around the fence in front of me, so I shot a little video. I've culled all the cockerels except for one, which I decided to keep since he's so protective of the girls... all 11 of them. He's kind of handsome as well, so I'm glad he doesn't have to go.
