well at least he didn't let the 16 yo take the car
It's only a 2004 GT. The neighbor was working on the engine. His teen daughter got her license and a car. They needed the room in his garage. My mother wasn't living here, so let him store it here. With my sister now a widow with three kids, my mother retired once and for all. The car has to be moved somewhere else.![]()
your birds as so pretty! And the one named Joan Jett! Lol, one of the people that gave me eggs has a pair of Spitzhauben named Jett and Billie IdolGood to see you!Yup - Just came back in. I had to deconstruct my Coop of Sadness and my Frat House PVC Coop - the PVC coop was essentially PVC, hardware cloth and LOTS of zip ties. LOTS OF ZIP TIES. Like, it took me about 2 hours to cut them all.
Then chicken chores, then quality time with my littles, including little Joan Jett (I name my chickens like I have named my cats in the past - they remain unnamed until it is "revealed" to me). This funky little girl has a very messy, nearly black crest (she reminded me of Joan Jett, hence the name). She's been posing for her new album cover:

How is it that I got so much done today and still feel like I didn't get much done?
I think I may need to go to bed early and just start over tomorrow... - Ant Farm
a real firebird? Good luck! I love FirebirdsI'm starting my Firebird project tomorrow.... Hi .....Long time since I talked to you.. Hit 80 here today..... Sorry.....
Sooo cute!! What breed?Yup... I'm a proud papa... Four little webs...![]()
Have you had the alternator tested, sounds like it us on its way outHaven't tried a different battery yet; planning to tomorrow. When the old battery failed to do anything the other day, I went directly to the battery cables with the jumper cables....battery unhooked. Engine started fine that way. Unhooked jumpers & hooked the same battery up again, and it fired right up...no problem Half hour later I threw a belt; pulled mower around back & shut it down to work on belt...hasn't cranked since
sounds a far cry better than most commercial egg producer plants, that's a relief!Well, we went to the chicken farm yesterday. It was different than I expected. We didn't get to actually go inside the building because of boisecurity but we were in the room at the end where the eggs came out on the conveyer. There was a great big viewing window there that we could see in. I now know what 10,000 chickens looks like now. They were everywhere! They did not have much space at all but they also looked like they didn't have any issues getting to where they wanted to be. But, like my husband said, he doubts that a chicken on this ends of the building would ever see the other end. They were dust bathing in the litter on the floor and looked generally content though it's not like they knew any better. They did have the doors open for them to "free range" where there were 100-200b outside sun bathing but their free range area was a fenced off area that only went out about 15 ft and then down the length of the building. It was all gravel. The place was very clean though and so were the birds. The people who own it were very nice. They had well cared for horses and pets. Their 7 year old even brought down her favorite horse to take my kids for a ride. Overall, it was a nice visit and am interesting experience. I still feel horrible for the birds but what can you do.
X2I guess beauty really is in the eye of the beholder. Fortunately, I haven't beheld any yet.![]()

glad you made it home safely! Maybe your duckiling could make you a duck stew? If I remember she was fond of it tooI am unsettled. Getting home so late in the evening, and so many things to do. No desire to do it. Even getting supper isn't happening. The birds got to run around for about an hour before it was dark. They had water in the duck's bowl, and there were enough pieces of food left to make me think they were okay. I was gone an extra day. Glad I checked on them tonight. The ducklings will be brought back tomorrow. I hope to be able to get the coop cleaned out first I don't want the ducklings back in the house.
Sending tons of hugs your way!!!!Thank you. I am safe anyway. Saying goodbye to the children did me in. It was when the reality fully hit me. "I am leaving behind Brian!" When I return again, the children will be adjusting to their new routines. Their new lives. I will be ripping off a bandage. Faced again with a house devoid of such a life. A large personality. His presence filled a house, let alone a room. I cried so much as I hugged them goodbye. I tried not to. Oh, how I tried! But how do you treat it as nothing when a child, still needing a favorite blanket to sleep, loses her daddy? A 13-yr -old yells at his sister, and you are tempted to tell him he is not her father. He is now. No matter how young he is, the reality is that he is the man now. So I am safe. But I am certainly not sound.
Sounds like a day and a half! Good luck with the lamb! At least you don't need to cut the hay lol!!It has been a weekend! Saturday just at sunset a blind turkey staggered into my yard. At first I didn't catch on that it was blind but it kept walking in circles and running into things. So I decided to catch it. One rodeo later including grabbing and only getting a whole tailfull of feathers as he took off and flying blind crashed into a tree and fell 30 feet to the ground. One more grab and I came away with the primary flight feathers. At last I cornered him and got ahold of his neck and a leg. Wow they are strong. Stronger than my geese. So I put him in my dog carrier. This morning I call Walden's Puddle, our local Wildlife Rehab Center. They call back and tell us to bring him up. While I am on the way my husband calls them and leaves a message that one of my sheep have lambed and doesn't want the baby and to get home soon. So come home to deal with that and at last get the ewe trimmed so the baby can find the teats (she is VERY fluffy). Hold her still so the lamb can latch on. Struggle with her because she doesn't want to do this, and at last go get the baby bottle and milk her so I can get some colostrum into the baby. Thank goodness I drink goats milk (lactose intolerant) so I could supplement some of that for the lack of volume from mom. Then I realize I haven't turned my eggs since I got up this morning and run down and turn the eggs in the basement. Whew! I am beat! And I still have to order hay tomorrow.
MORNING!!! All caught up on this threadMorning to BYC land

some people are just plain stupidThis goose lives at Red Robin. When I went to say goodbye to it, it was drinking out of an ashtray. Another woman came over, and said it was going to make the bird sick. My thinking was, "Duh!" I told her I was tempted to bring the bird back to my farm. She became irritated when I said I would not actually bring the bird anywhere. Including 20 miles away to the closest pond.![]()
