I'm trying to incubate runner ducks and am having no luck. i have some eggs that have air sacs that are too small for the age of the eggs and was wondering if any people who are successful at correcting this problem could have a look at my post about the eggs and give me some feedback or advice. https://www.backyardchickens.com/t/1099126/air-sac-is-way-too-small-need-advice-please i'm pretty sure that i had my humidity too high. it's confusing on lots of the websites and reference books that i was looking at, and i think that i was using wet bulb recommendations instead of %humidity/hygrometer readings.

@Sally Sunshine
 and everyone else:

Sorry I've been sparse lately. Still no phone and I hate using my computer for internet stuff (I spend 8 hours a day working on it). My new tablet is supposed to be delivered today, I'll be on much more when I have that jewel. But, I have an Emu update!!!! When I turned my eggs this morning, I thought I heard one of my eggs tapping. So, I put it up to my ear and......it PEEPED at me! Ermergerd! Today is officially day 50 for the two eggs from the first four I set. And day 45 for the three eggs from the second four. I'm so excited, almost to the end!!!!

Congrats! Happy and excited for you!

Welcome to BYC! You aren't alone, I think many people are confused by all the info out there. What day are you at, what humidity were you at, and do you have any pictures? My incubation skills aren't very good, but there are plenty of people here that can help.

Well, I'm off of work today for Battle of Flowers (Remember the Alamo!!!!!). I took the opportunity to sleep in a bit to catch up after a pretty brutal week at work.

Gosh - I am 1800+ posts behind. And I was actually delusional enough to start to try to catch up before I came to my senses...

So, hugs to everyone, whether you need them or not!!!

The Easter HAL chicks are 4 weeks old and have entered what I like to call the "hoodlum" stage. Good grief! A couple weeks ago I caved in and added a lot of peat to their bedding in an attempt to try to keep up with them (there are a lot of chicks in there) - it is working, in that it has been easier to keep the brooder smell down and keep it relatively sanitary (I have it mixed with shavings), and they love dust bathing in it. But everything in the mudroom is covered with a fine layer of "dirty" dust (in addition to dander). They're not ready to go out yet (housing wise, and the littler shipped chicks are still too "downy"), but I hope to some time next week. Boy, I'll have a lot of cleaning to do...

Little Joan Jett has decided that her new mission in life is to be my very best friend, helper, and general lap chicken (which is unusual for Cream Legbars, which are kind of flighty - but she's Paula's girl, so super friendly by inheritance, I guess). She has taken to keeping me company/"helping" when I scoop the poop in their coop (while all others stay out of the way). And she LOVES to cuddle. So precious. Her sisters (Paula's girls) are also friendly, but she is the Lap Queen...

OK, I have a long list of stuff I was going to do today, and I haven't done any of it yet - gotta go get to work!!!!
