Morning all sorry I've been busy but happy to say hatches are going well I have 3 more babies this morning... yesterday's baby wouldn't stay in the cup so I hobbled them and position his legs underneath him and then gently wrapped a strip of paper towel around his midsection and secure it with a Band-Aid so he can still poop and he can still eat and drink with the food that's right next to him... hopefully that will train his legs to stay Underneath Him

. I hope the hobbled chick makes it. Go Chickies!

My bantam chick has been almost half way zipped for nearly 2 days... What should I do? It's still alive.

Zipping shouldn't take that long. 60 minutes at the most.

Awwww

just checked on baby with the bad leg again and he was dead. he had some strange ticking noise that was going on while he was breathing and he breathed with his mouth open a lot I thought he was just tired....apparently he had something other going on besides leg issues. he was malpositioned. I'm learning but they all can't be happy and healthy and just moving on got 3 more hatches in the works. 9 healthy babies so far

Half way zipped for two days is too long. Time for it to come out, but read Sally's assisted hatching article first.

Welcome to BYC! You aren't alone, I think many people are confused by all the info out there. What day are you at, what humidity were you at, and do you have any pictures? My incubation skills aren't very good, but there are plenty of people here that can help.

they're at day 16 now, i think i'm going to just get rid of the water out of the trays and hope that i don't make it too dry for the other eggs that just started this week. if their air sacs get too big too fast, i'll correct for that later, i guess. I'll try and get some pictures up on that other thread that i started
