I,know what I'm doing.I have had her since she was a day old.she allow as me to check on them and her.
I know you know what you're doing. But you don't need to do what you're doing.
Once a female bird is sitting on eggs, leave her alone. You'll either get babies or you won't. There's nothing you can do to change that.
You drive us nuts with your questions about things that you can't control.

No I would can him if he did that. He is over breeding my hens. They have scabs on their backs. I do not want to get aprons for them. Can I just pen him up or give him something to lower his libido?
You don't want to medicate him to make him less virile. You can pen him. The best tack is to give him as many hens as he needs. Usually about 12 hens per cock is appropriate. Less for DP and heavy breeds, more for light/egg breeds.

Lol, good luck!! Maybe more hens?

Quote: I should have known I was in for it when I realized that both the fireplace chimney and the vent for the heating unit terminated IN THE ATTIC. No, THAT'S not a carbon monoxide/fire hazard... And I was told that the heating unit belonged in a museum (that wasn't a joke - they actually asked me to let them know if I ever had it removed...) That, and the fact that when they looked in the main electric box for the house, they were honestly frightened. I was not allowed to even move in to the house until $4000 of electric work was done - apparently a previous owner "winged it" in a rather terrifying way...

That being said, I've been happy with my crazy weird property - and the little house I live in is fine. It's the old one that's so friggin' weird.

Oh, and I get taxed by the sq. ft. And I am essentially robbed every year. I've tried to challenge it - got it reduced once (cost just as much for legal fees as I got back). Then they just jacked it back up the next year. Tried that two times, same thing each time. I gave up.

Eventually I will remodel, and will be able to convert some of this space to a badly needed garage/workshop/barn-type area...

In what way? I seem to have been part of rooster management discussions on about four different threads this spring (spring hormones and all). Just had to process one of them last week (he's actually in the oven right now) - but that isn't always necessary. If you tell us what the issues are, we can probably give suggestions, we discussed it here a couple weeks ago...

I always seem to ask my questions too late in the day. By the next morning I can't find any answers since the morning thread is all about cups of coffee. It's my time zone I know.

Any way he is young. He is overbreeding my 10 hens. He is hurting them. I don't want to put clothes on them. I don't know if penning him is an option. I don't know will this overbreeding behavior change? I don't like seein my hens with no feathers on their heads and scabs on their backs. I think maybe his breed orp, he is just too big for my med size hens. They live in a pretty big area. You would think with 10 hens he wouldn't be so over the top. Other than that he is nice to me so far.
