Our dog does great with the cats...he protects them and loves them. He'll go outside and lay and they crawl all over him, lick him. Maybe some people shouldn't have cats with their dogs but I know plenty of people who's dogs are wonderful with cats, so I think that's kind of a strange rule to impose on everyone.
We always had outdoor dogs when I was a kid, & usually a couple formerly stray cats. The cats all got along great with the dogs. One of the cats even appropriated one of the dog boxes to have a litter; poor dog had to sleep underneath the box.

Ours are too in fact the cats bother the dogs more than the other way around. They'll be trying to do their business outside and the cat will flat out wrestle them.

RIP Prince.
Minnesota Public Radio is playing his entire catalog of songs in alphabetical order starting last night.

I was never a big fan but he sure was a prolific writer. He got in trouble from his record label for writing too many songs. He was kicking them out at the rate of one a day.

39 albums, 4 movies, 7 Grammys, 1 Golden Globe and an Academy Award.

He wrote lots of songs that made other people famous. Some he submitted under pseudonyms.
Sinead O'Connor - Nothing compares 2 u
Cindi Lauper - When you were mine.
Bangles - Manic Monday.
Alicia Keys - Why Don't You Call Me Anymore?
Stevie Nicks - Stand Back.
Chaka Khan - I Feel For You
Shiela E - The Glamorous Life.
Madonna - Love Song
Sheena Easton - Sugar Walls
Celine Dion - With This Tear
M. C. Hammer -

That's exactly how our poor dog is! He'll be trying to nap and get some sun and they'll start climbing him and biting him and licking him ...they'll lay all over him - they treat him like their mother!

And he's never once treated them like anything other than his babies. (Even when I know they've hurt him accidentally)
He'll also be trying to do his business and they'll be rubbing all over him and he'll look at me like "Seriously?? Can I just go to the bathroom ALONE??!"

Yup the cats kinda rule the outdoors here too - he lets them do whatever they want. However he gets to come inside and he knows the cats don't

Wow I didn't realize he wrote some of those! Very interesting!

You do NOT want your chickens to eat a poisoned mouse, or your dogs, or cats. Traps are better, then the poisoned mouse cannot poison the next thing to eat it. I have seen my chickens ripping apart moles/mice before so it is possible that they could play with your poisoned mouse

Our dog and cat pretty well ignore each other.

I meant the part about making them barn cats.

They also have a rule about needing a fenced yard for adopting dogs.

It's all for the safety of the adopted animal.

I can understand the fenced yard part for most people too - especially in town of course. There's "fences" and a gate at the farm but definitely don't keep the dogs in...however they rarely leave the property and if they do, they're back pretty quick. (But they're farm/guard dogs and do their jobs well) We rescued both of them from people who "didn't want them anymore" (I don't understand that thought process) and they've both been the BEST dogs ever!

Our other dog here at home was also a rescue dog and they did come check our house's fence which was fine. (He's not a farm dog)

I know that he played every instrument on his debut album, probably other albums too.
He played at least 25 different instruments and was one of the bet bassists, guitarists, drummers and keyboardists of all time.

Before he was famous, he opened for George Throrogood, who was opening for the Rolling Stones at a concert in California. He was booed off the stage and only played 3 songs before he had to leave because the crowd was throwing cans, bottles and trash can lids at him.
The promoter went to the mike and admonished the crowd saying the people were morons. He said, "in a couple years when he's famous, you'll all feel pretty stupid."

Yeah, I heard they come out to check.
I don't have a fence but rescue is good.

Does anyone know "Bringing Home My Baby Bumblebee"? If you do, you understand why teaching it to Duckling was a bad idea. Now she keeps licking her hands. After the second time around, she was able to do the motions. :lau
