You live in a zoo?

Yeah, pretty much.
Got a dog, a rabbit, 2 guinea pigs, 3 PET ducks, 31 chickens, and about a hundred or so tadpoles..... Thinking about quail, goats, and mini donkeys. Oh, and more chickens. :D

With this

And this

Okay I will try to figure that out I am not sure how to lower it. Maybe I put too much water in when I set it up.
humidity is controlled by the surface area of water not the depth of it, what incubator are you using?

I lost all my quotes! Good morning all! Congratulations to all the winners!!!

Duck weed - I had it in my fish tank and it was HORRIBLE! Chickens loved it though. Took almost killing the entire tank of fish, hundreds of water changes and it was gone.

A while back I posted a link to a presentation on raising the stuff. It has more protein than soy beans. It multiplies, rather than grow bigger. It is prolific! They grew it in any container they could find. Mostly white paint buckets. While the guy was talking he scooped out a big handful and put it in with a very large fish they had in a tank, and said it would eat it. My fish didn't care for it - I think that's why it took over.

I would consider growing it in containers, but I would not want to put it in a pond/lake or fish tank.

@daxigait - no word on the original chicken (I will call the vet again). On the ice chest I dropped off on Sunday, I called receiving yesterday and found out that they were working on the 2 chickens I left (one was my 11 month old roo, the other was Gotro17's 4 month old hen).

Last night eggs that I locked down....no pips when I left this morning, but I still heard chirping! It is one crowded incubator. I'll be pulling out dry chicks and egg shells early.

Happy Hatching everyone!!
Thanks, good luck with fluff butts!

Okay, so I was right when I was thinking it wasn't a pure BCM (mine never had lacing). But correct that it looks a lot like one. It's eggs are nice anyway. Both laid in my coop today. Probably their first eggs!
I did not know that my chickens were letting the strangers inside the coop. They don't let the others (the neighbors' other chickens) in there. I am very concerned however, because these are pullets that they just got from someone else. I do not know what kind of diseases they might be carrying.
I'm sure a lot of you have a lot of questions about this situation. You can ask or just assume that it's hopeless. My flock is going to mingle with the neighbors' flock. It's too late to worry about it now.
Very pretty hen, i wouldn't worry too much, even if they didn't come over pathogens can travel a long ways so better to not worry

Here is the link I posted on growing duckweed.

Can you pm it to me please so i can find it easier later??

Is my first time hatching eggs and I've read that you have to have a sponge in the last 3 days of incubation and therefore moisture how do I get my sponge in the bottom on my incubator being as I already have the egg turner in there full of eggs
what day are you on

Thanks for the help. So it will be safe for me to move the eggs for the automatic Turner
i think u said it was a still air maybe day 3? If that is true i would think you could take them out to add the turner, then on day 18 remove the turner, add the sponge

The frogs are hatching!
Get the quackers out

You live in a zoo?
Don't we all?

Can I ask....why are you hatching frogs?

Cause it is fun! My friend always has a bucketload of frog eggs in her pond, so this year I thought it would be fun to do. They get released after they get legs, no way am I keeping 150 frogs in the house.....

SH.... I COULD INCORPORATE THE DOG AND THE RABBIT TOO!!:lau

Ewww! :sick

As a class in elementary school we raised tadpoles, but the frogs were given to the biology dept at the high school who disected them. They were fun to raise - at the time, I didn't know what they were being raised for.....

JUST CURIOUS - not criticizing. I would think that frog eggs hatching naturally, wouldn't all hatch - some would be eaten by fish and birds etc. Hatching them inside would hatch way more live tadpoles than in the wild. Those tadpoles ALSO feed many species. By raising all the tadpoles and releasing the frogs, are you overpopulating the area?
