It does have a way of growing on you. I'd try taping the egg like Kathy said...nothing to lose.

Note: do not place tape in the probable pip zone. I'd probably not cover it with wet paper towl either, 'cause I think *maybe* bacteria could get in the shell?

Cracking them is the only fear I have about handling them.

Line the inside of your egg basket with foam, loop the handle over your wrist, & have at it. 

The one I cracked fell three feet to the bathroom floor.

Yes, me too. I haven't cracked any while candling, but a bit ago the incubator did get pushed off shelf on hatch day. Many cracked eggs.

Ouch! It's one thing when they fail on their own, when I screw up, and it's happened more than once, I sure do feel stupid.
