This is what my husband says I look like right now...

I'm not going to be able to sleep tonight! Out of 12 eggs it's the only one with a fully developed chick to hatch. The rest were either empty or stopped developing.
lau.gif

Waaaaaaay behind (>3000 posts!). No way I can do a read back.

Update: EHAL babies FINALLY went outside last Sunday, and are doing well (slowly learning to roost - I still have to put about half of them up there each night).

Older babies doing well (and the boys are heading for the freezer soon, hormonal jerks that they are).

I had my first broody experience. Lissa, one of my Cream Legbars, went enthusiastically broody on her first birthday.

Here she is determinedly trying to hatch a couple of frozen water bottles:

It eventually worked after a couple days (switching out bottles as they thawed) - this evening she was off the nest, looking/doing well, eating, drinking, etc. To be sure I picked her up, and she felt cooler and didn't growl at me. So I carried her around with her belly airing out, then we finally sat and watched the babies from outside their tractor. This is not one of my most friendly/cuddly girls normally, but she was so mellow this evening. I blew on her belly a bit just to be sure. I think she liked it...

Alrighty, I may be off to bed again in a minute, but just wanted to post an update.

I got my Silkie eggs!!! This waiting 21 days is going to kill me, lol! So excited!

GOOD LUCK!! @chicksforme

I wanted to show off the only chick that hatched at Easter (the rest was quail). She is half Sapphire and half Bantam Silver Penciled Wyandotte. She has the rose comb. I know that the comb is real pink for 6 weeks but her feathers said female one the second day and the vent sexing (third week) looked more female than male. Right now she only has a baby name of Cheep. The little A&M quail she has grown up with is named Peep. Peep was kept to be the replacement of the aging partner of Albus an English white quail. Still not sure that Peep is female but since his partner died last week Peep will at least keep him from being lonely. After a day of hearing Albus call for his dead mate I put him in with Cheep and Peep and he has ceased to cry for her. They seem to be getting along fine.

Cheep here is all white with just one grey feather on her tail.

Hey guys, this is my first time incubating. I have 2 eggs that are pipping but no actual hike through the shell, just cracks. They have been like this since this afternoon with no progress. Should I be worried?

I posted this on another thread too but these were some practice random farm eggs from our farm. The first one looks like it is developing properly it is day 7, my question is if the second one is a double yolk egg. The shell is so dark it is very difficult to see through it and I didn't notice the difference in appearance until this morning. You just can't see through it very well!

What, exactly, is a Lippet Morgan? Is it pretty much like the original horse named for Justin Morgan that would ride, drive, and do light farm work, or the modern Morgan, with a lot of Thoroughbred blood?  Or something else altogether?
yes true to the old standard, she has bloodlines all the way back to Figure, Justin Morgan's horse

I'm so sorry! No more smiling and/or being happy!
Lol! Yer impossible

Good!  Glad to know there's still someone around who values the true Morgan for what it was developed for. Does she/he drive?
yes she does and is great for my daughter

Coop DeVaudeville, huh? Essentially, yes. Needs one more piece to finish the ridge cap on the roof; I got rained out, AGAIN. Had to make a Lowes run for another roll of 1/4" hardware cloth for around the bottom of the fence, a hasp for the people door I built, and a fresh supply of cable ties to secure the hardware cloth.

I'm peachy. You feeling pretty spiffy post-surgery??
