:lau the last time they saw a frog, they ran away, but maybe!

smart chickens :lau

Wish I got a video, they were all in a ring around the poor frog and every few minets a chicken would peck it and then jump away doin the alarm call!!! Never seen anything funnier!!! :gig
The only chicken that didn't join in was emma... She knows about frogs.

Here's an example of why it's so important to candle before setting eggs.

This is an egg from my flock.

The air cell is on the LEFT, the clearly pointy end. If not for candling, this egg would have been set upside down!

I leave candling and handling to my broody, lol. btw, my danny-bator broke an egg - it was my favorite NN girl's egg

UR_UR_UR_URRRRRRRRRRRRRR!!!!!!!!!!! (means good morning in chicken speak) Quick update: I went to bed last night with 8 chicks out (including the 3 assists), 6 external pips, and 3 sleepers. I woke up this morning to 14 healthy, happy chicks... and #15 halfway zipped. 2nd update: Since I started typing this, # 15 has broken out and doing great! WOOHOO! If the last 2 will get busy, all 17 that went into lockdown will go into the brooder this afternoon. :fl
Wow! Great hatch of beauty babies!

Did you see what kwhites wrote over at the french frog thread????
:gig :gig

"You know Sally and Ruby and Walnut and WV,
Bubbles and Friday and Ravyn and Ross.
But do you recall
The most famous hatcher of all?
SC the redneck rebel,
Had a very large ego.
And if you ever met him,
You'd probably say "Oh NO" :bow :lau

Amazing!!!!!!!!!!!!

If my candler is not here before we set on the eleventh. Can I use a flashlight?
With the Brower it looks like you lay them flat. I need to finish reading the hatching 101.

Here is Miss Maui! I woke up to find her out of her cup and fluffed in the bator. I put some antibacterial without pain reliever on her navel and have her in her own area in the broader so they don't peck at the area.

No other activity in the bator on Day 22 here

I use a flashlight. And yes, if you lay them flat or under a broody it's not a concern.
