UPDATE ON BLOODY BOTTOM CHICK.

Finally worked up the nerve to really investigate the chick. Got some hot soapy water and gentle rubbed the matted pancake with a q-tip while running warm water over the whole thing. TOOK FOREVER to get the scab off. Once the scab was off it was pretty obvious that the chick was still herniated. UGH!! After getting as much dead matter as possible off of the external hernia I swabbed the hernia and surrounding area with iodine and slowly rubbed little circles until I worked the hernia into the body cavity. I used a sterilized toothpic to hold in the hernia while my spouse applied superglue to the edges. Then I pinched the area closed. Once the superglue set and my spouse had separated my fingers from each other (luckily I managed not to glue myself to the chick!) I slathered the area again in iodine and put the chick back in her enclosure in the brooder. If she does not go septic it will be a miracle!
So, pray for my miracle everybody! Good vibes! Positive Energy! I'll take it all!
She is still very active, very vibrant, and very upset over her "surgery". I hope she makes it. Now I'm going to go back and look for that booster water recipe in the notes..

I imagine it's okay temporarily, I would offer both. I wonder if there is an antibiotic ointment you should use, or an oral one you can give. You may want to post in the emergency, injury, and disease thread.
