Hey all, I took video of my little serama last night doing this "yawning" thing like a silent crow. Any ideas or should I not be so concerned? Thanks!
Oops! So sorry about the noise! I was watching 8 out of 10 Cats before bed.

Check it's little throat if it's still doing it today. I've had a few do that and freaked! Thought it was gape worms but imho it's a piece of bedding or suck temporarily stuck. Mine went away on it's own

gOOD MORNING!!!!

I went from addicted to this thread to having hatches with company over a month ago. Family ERs and now my company is watching my hatch while I care for my mom, she fell and busted her knee. Needless to say, finding time to check in has been a challenge unless I beat everyone up in the mornings

BUT I still have fluffy butts and Dumpling with me LOL

Hubby's coming over this weekend, well not over, I'm a few states away. He's bringing some of my layers for my daughter (we trade eggs, chicks and hens) meanwhile my poor company is dealing with buyers and hatches. She came out to stay a bit to get sober and has a month in for the fist time since her son died. HUGE CONGRATS to her. She loves the babies and hatching .............what a great way to stay busy while waiting on a job:) This is her first hatch by herself and she's soooooooooooo stressed and excited. She'll love having the house to herself a few days. We ALL need that LOL

Can't wait to pick up Dumpling and see how he/she's doing............She'll be fine in the 3X2 box with 3, 2 day old babies. I bought her a happy hen treat cake to keep her busy while healing and will hang it higher than the fluffy butts can reach.......*with grit available* does anyone know if the mealworm/sunflower seed one is "ok" at 4 weeks old and given her circumstance?

Congratulations!   I am still watching mine hatch.  Those marans and OE's are hard to hatch, just the waiting is not fun.

How are you doing this morning? I have 11 out, 3 zipping and 7 pips. Only one is not going to make it... It has a weird growth on the side of its neck :(

Now I must carry my sleepy butt to bed... hypothetically speaking, of course, and dream of spinning sunflowers.

Good night to all!!!
lau.gif
sorry didnt mean to overly intoxicate you with spinning sunflowers home your nightmares were few, seems I do that to people
hu.gif

guess that would depend on if you is the meat or not
idunno.gif
sure like a big ole steak though . But to put your miond at ease I'll ask a cow .
excellent point k !

If the mouse is of sound mind and not catholic. then it has the right to make up its on mind . so if it wants to do a swan dive into the dogs bowl and of course if the dog don't mind . well what the problem is .
I wouldnt think the mouse is catholic naaaa K yer overthinkin it

I agree with everyone else she is so sweet, I just sold my chicks we hatched, she is picking them up tonight. harmonyann is gonna be mad at me too!

I am, but my bator may overflow. I will be paying for enough to fill it and if extras are sent I won't have room. Wanted to check if you or firedragon1982 may want to help with the overflow.
I see a nudder bator in your future

Holy Canolies!!!! I stay off for one day and have a novel to read. Lol. Chicken hawk!!!?!?!? Wow, on the eggs!!!! Super jealous!!!! I know there are a few hatching here any day now!!! Good luck. Tomorrow is day 20 for me but just not feeling hopeful.... But we shall see. Hope all you are well tonight!!!
OHHHH!!!!! thats right Louly!!!!!! update!!!!! I bet you have pippppppssss!!! @lindalouly

If she keeps pooping normally, I wouldn't worry about it. Mine do that too sometimes, especially the littles after they pig out. And it looks like her crop was flexing when she did it, so betting it was either a bit of stuck food or a bit of overeating.
agree!

Pain med hangovers invented the term "catch 22?" :(
oh I am such a a a a I just dont know some stuff, I aint innocent, heck I wouldnt know what to call me, not ignorant, what am I....
lau.gif
I just never let that sorta stuff in my head I guess

So is eating meat ethical?
As long as it's the right species.

Is torture ever acceptable with spiders?
Is it torture if you pull their legs off?

What are your guys favorite feeders and waterers for the brooder?
I use one of those little quart water bottles with the "moat" screwed on, then upgrade to the gallon size. Start with marbles in the water. Have some saddle nipples that I have yet to trial. Wishing I hadn't bought them.

I'm starting my chicks off with a flip-open feeder and a 1-quart waterer, and will change over to a 7 lb. hanging feeder and a nipple waterer after a few days.

I'll be mounting one or two of these on the side(s) of a container for the few-day-old chicks, as well as replacing the vertical nipple waterer in the laying hen run.

Don't want to rain on your parade, but have heard that very young chicks are not strong enough to activate the nipples on those. Let's hear some feed back from others about that?! I'll be setting up some of those on a cat litter bucket for my winter waterer.

Is this your dtr who has 1 month of sobriety now? I wasn't exactly clear who you are talking about. But, huge congrats to her, and to you too. It's hard being a support system without enabling. Hope she is able to continue her path back to good health.

Good morning, everyone. I'm whisper typing very softly so I don't agitate M'Lady's headache. I hope everyone is doing well, and hatching lots of chickies (and duckies). With any luck, I'll be joining the hatching club early next week. I'll candle my 17 BPR eggs this evening, and hopefully...
fl.gif
... all of them will go into lockdown. So if I may be excused, I must be off to grind black peppers. Yes, I'm making a career change... a little tired of the salt mine. Y'all have a great day now, ya hear?

Acho!... Acho!...Acho!!!
