Crap... I missed #8946. Even if I had won, you'd still be #1...

Today is a good day, got a message from an amazing person who went through an incredibly rough situation... even though the AI issues seem to have calmed down, it is good to keep awareness and biosecurity in mind for all flocks...

Anyone interested in breeding/buying/selling, please check out his incredible story he was strong enough to share... luckily he had a happy ending but it just proves that this can happen to anyone...

ETA: not trying to make anyone paranoid, but this is something everyone should be aware of and keep in mind... :)

 that is really scary... And to think I stupidly picked up 2 abandoned roos at the lake and didn't use quarantine.... oy how stupid that was! Nevvvvver doin that again!!!!!
:th AI would have devastated me, I don't know If I could have recovered emotinally from something like that if my chickens got infected!!!!

I'm supposed to get my new xmas/birthday bator on Wed and I'm excited to fill it up! I'm moving from a Brinsea Mini Advance to the Brinsea Octo 20 Advance. Anyone else made this change? Anything I should keep an eye on or that's different that I should know about? Anyone had issues? I have a friend who got rid of his Octo 20. Said he had horrible hatches in it. In thinking something was faulty in his? With the great hatches I've had in my mini advance, I can't imagine that I won't love my octo 20, too!

@iPickYupik the 20 is awesome! The biggest complaint is maintaining high humidity for lockdown, if you live in a dry area. I have the humidity pump also, so I haven't had the issue. But I've read if you have trouble keeping it high, you can drape a paper towel or cloth through the channels and let it hang out to increase surface area.

I will wager you will love it! Your friend could have had bad eggs, bad parent stock or whatever. The bator is almost stupid-human proof!

That's what I love about my mini advance - it's almost set and go! :) We do live in a dry area but my friend who got rid of his is giving me his humidity pump so hopefully I'll be set! Can't wait to try it out. :) I've already got eggs waiting for it. :D
