Sally sunshine weighs the same as a duck!

Careful, she may turn you into a newt.

So I have 4 eggs that are getting hand turned, and since I have the bator open anyway to turn them I've been candling my other eggs in the turner, I'm seeing veins and darkness in most of the eggs. A few eggs in the turner seem clear and I was wondering if they are clear and I take them out will it hurt the hand turned eggs to stick them in the clears' spaces? And if so when should I move them to the auto turner? Is Day seven too soon? Too late? I will check more thoroughly for clears/quitters on day 7.

:smack I said, truce......

Why do you think I'm counting down the days till march, and it isn't even winter yet?????

I can't wait to start incubating, and I know which egg will be the first! My blue EE eggs! I think my hen named Muffin lays them.

Sooooo... I have until March, 2016 to take you seriously?   :lau

Oops... we called a truce. With the boatload of info you see on this thread every day, you should be able to incubate with both eyes closed and one hand tied behind your back by then!

:plbb you can start practicing anytime!

I hope so.... Which is why I joined this thread....

the 11 watt bulb I put in 3 hours ago turned out to be a 25 watt (same size, tiny print on rim, I knew I had one of each but in a hurry to lower temp, fortunately I left the lid loose and partway open. If any chicks hatch it will be a miracle, was back at 113 when I got home. Now I have an 11 watt in, and we have a cold front coming after I am supposed to start lockdown and the last time I had an 11 watt in i could barely keep the thing at 97 degrees. may have to dig through the shed and get a bigger cooler and move the eggs into it with a bigger bulb? I have 1 day until lock down. Can anyone tell me how to candle with a flashlight? or something I have in the house?

I took the center of a toilet paper roll and taped it on my flash light. The roll is too big for my cochin eggs so I will have to shrink it down for them.

oh no! Gypsi, have you looked in my signature at my coolerbator link? you cup your palm around the end of the flashlight and put it over the fat end of the egg to look through the air cell of the egg so the light shines down into the egg
