No, they're regular collars, usually made of leather or nylon when I used them. They have a receiver that's triggered by the dog's barking, which, in turn, initiates a harmless electrical stimulation to the neck, through two metal studs. After the dog gets "buzzed" a few times, he associates the barking with the unpleasant shock, and quits the nuisance barking. Same principal as the underground invisible fence to keeps dogs in a specified area.

no I gotcha on that one whites, trust me I got that! I meant the rooster kind! I have sent unpleasant shocks to my springers trust me. And I do have a no bark collar here for one of these brats! but the dang thing is always runnin low on life. Swear she barks at her shadow outside. cant stand that barkin outside!

Your bark collar should have a charger with it that should keep it fully charged between uses.
Maybe your charger's shot. I've had tools that quit 'cause their charger quit.

All of our shockers are from say 2010 and older, maybe its time to upgrade? the field shockers I have do charge but the barkers are bats.

If the contents of their air sacs is the same thing as a big lungful of air, then your are correct.

Ross, sounds like peritonitis or oomphalitis... essentially the same thing IMO.  Personally, I'd cull.  If antibiotics don't make a change in 24 hours, chick not likely to survive.  I doubt if it will last 24 hours no matter what you do.

I ask my customers to recycle cartons for me.  I've never had any one not willing to do that, and even folks who are not my customers save cartons for me.  Yeah, if you sell eggs and buy cartons, be sure to mark your prices up accordingly.  

Glad it's better this morning, Sally.  Keep it moving.  Helps the pain and swelling to go away faster.  IMO, issues after a shot are normally worse 24 - 48 hours later.  If you have issues like swelling and redness immediately, then... I'd be calling the doc!

I used to go to school with a gal who'd warsh and wrench her hair every Friday night!

If you can keep steady temps there and humidity not too high, go for it.  I wrap a blanket around my bator at night to help modulate temp changes.  (keep the ventilation holes uncovered!)

Thank you! I am syringe feeding water with antibiotics. I will try it for 24 hours. If nothing happens by tomorrow them I will be culling this baby. . It was drinking well. So hopefully it will be okay. :/
