I sure don't trust USPS after all the horror stories I've read on here. But then, I've never bought eggs

The batch I had delivered to my house had some bad air cells but the one I picked up at the post office looked great and actually developed great up to lockdown. Not sure why those haven't hatched yet...Going to investigate when I get home. I did set the temp a degree lower than last time because I thought my incubator was running hot, so they could just be late...

I had a shipment of ducklings in September took four days...lucky they were okay...

Aw poor duckies I'm going to try to find some as close as possible. I've been keeping my eye out for any locally but no such luck yet(less competition when I start selling them though). I did find someone selling Black Copper Maran hatching eggs that I'm probably going to try next...Really want Ameraucanas as my breeding flock though...

It's always stressful for me when I buy chicks, but Ideal Hatchery does a good job packing them in good boxes, but you still never know with USPS, especially with all the stories I find here.

Problem is...if you ever look at Michigan...I live I'm the Upper Peninsula we barely have roads...lots of forest....there just isn't much poultry selling going on here...and this year with avian flu there were no swap meets or even poultry at the fair..

I found some from The Gypsy Hen Poultry. I got them on eBay but she is part of the Ameraucana Breeder Association. I bought 10. She sent 13. I hatched 8. 2 Black, 5 Blue and 1 Splash. They are less than a week old but I am pretty happy with them so far.

I'm hoping we can get everything done so I can go home and check on my chicks sooner.

Take a few sick days, and you can star with them... err... I mean, you'll feel better. Yeah... that's what I meant!!

Craig's list up here isn't much....all the ducks I found were down in Green Bay.....6 hours round trip...and none were what I wanted.
