The chick with the attached unabsorbed yolk sack is in the brooder, is alert and seems normal so far. He drank some gatorade and has food access. Has been iodined. Anything else I can or should do?

Since he is drinking and eating, will he maybe make it? Or does that not matter?

Eating and drinking is a good sign. Hoping for the best is sometimes all you can do. Hope the little guy pulls through.

Just keep it isolated where it can't move around too much. If it tears the yolk off you will be culling. You are definitely in the up with the chick for now.

Max (left) and big sister Bella (right): If you don't know him, even sitting peacefully like this can be a little intimidating... Even at 120 lbs and 29" at the shoulder, he isn't exactly "fat"...

Just read everything, eating and drinking is a good thing. Iodine will definently dry it out, depending on what strain of it you have. Make sure he cant move too much, or the yolk will rip. I lost one chick that had the yolk out because it had just hatched under a broody momma, and she pecked the yolk sack open right when I ran to get the brooder. He was an early hatcher. Hopefully he makes it! It's hard when that happens. Sometimes they zip too far and tumble out, and stop absorbing the yolk.
