Congrats on your chickies Sally!

I did a skim of some of the stuff over the last couple days and looks like I missed some drama! Anyone ever get a hold of chickenhawk?

I just placed an order for 25 blue/black Ameraucana chicks! They should get here Jan 19th! Since my shipped eggs did not do so well, I figured I would just go ahead and order chicks. Also going to try to find some Barred Rocks so I can try to make sex-link Easter Eggers!

And I have decided to set some eggs on the 7th so that they will hatch on my birthday, Jan 28th! I was going to wait until after I got my chicks in the mail but I figured, what better birthday present could I give myself than some chicks hatching And they will only be a week younger than the Ameraucanas so I should be able to house them in the same brooder...

I PM'd CH yesterday & got a reply. He's been on, although very briefly (which is nothing new for him) since then.

It's mostly wooded there's probably 5 acres including the yard that's not wooded or brush and another 5 thats full of brush and jaggers. Makes it kinda hard to pattern deer as they have alot of food choices.

Is it legal there to use deer feeders?

CH still has those two eggs in his bator, he will clean it out at some point and set more eggs.

Ok, good to hear. Would be a shame if he was afraid to come back or took any of that to heart. Most of it got deleted before I could read it but it seemed pretty harsh...

Not in my area. There might be one management unit over by Miss Sally that baiting is legal but don't quote me on that. Problem with baiting deer is it would be something that you'd have to do year round so that the deer know there's a good food source there. If you just throw out a bunch of bait for them don't expect to get much out of it.

alot of oak trees and they are spread out so not very good. At the back of the property (where I haven't been hunting yet) are some agri-fields that belong to somebody else. The problem is getting to the back of the property.

if they do that, its usually off limits to hunting and you have to hunt the rim and if one goes in you have to get a ranger to take you in to find it. But I think most props I know of local are open and vacated at this point

Well I want to start breeding them and they will be straight run, so I figure about half will be roosters and then a handful more might not be suitable for breeding...
