I only got chased by a bear once....she had cubs....I ran real fast.....she quit chasing....thank God.
Mostly they run so fast you don't have time to do much but watch them go. But I still always respect them. Lots of bears here!!! Can't even have a bird feeder.

Thankfully never been chased by a bear or deer.....although I have been chased up a tree by a wild pig before and that was scary enough as they can really mess you up if they get a hold of you.

eeeekkkk I want to hunt at husbands dads house in SC for them, now not sure unless in a tree already!

Heh, I have been chased by a deer, and as much as I am ashamed to admit, I have had a tarantula chase me up a tree. Granted I was ALOT younger when he did it.

me too, and I will admit it, a huge buck in rut and I was about 15 and I was "in season"

and hunting for squirrels while dad was bowhunting a few hundred yards away! I tried to get that thing to head his direction... scared the crap out of me, the dumb monster! Why couldnt that happen during rifle season!!!

Good morning everyone one! I've finally caught up on posts, which is pretty difficult trying to read through cracked eyelids. Got less than 2 hours sleep last night, so I won't be too spunky or active today. Some of you are cheering right now, aren't you? That's okay, I think folks can us a break from the Ur every once in awhile.

Gonna take a nap at lunch, then attempt to do a day 18 candle before lockdown. Hoping al 7 eggs pass inspection! Fingers crossed!!!

Sorry I can't remember who all has baby chickies this morning, but congrats to everyone that does!!!!!!

I would have gone up a tree if a tarantula was chasing me too! Those things are fast and their fangs are huge!

It couldn't happen during rifle season because I'm convinced PA deer can read. As far as hunting porkers I would love to go down south and hunt them. My being chased incident was half a world away in a different country with different kinds of pigs. In the same country I also had a friends dog get killed by a pig and a friend of mine that I grew up with also got killed by a pig (or rather complications from being attacked by one of the dirty bas!@#$%)

Okay, thank you. I'm going to get away from the comp a bit and see if I can get him situated. I still need to find my little watering can for him. I dont think a 2 gallon waterer is needed for this one little guy.

With mentioning humidity, does it matter as much if I am currently allowing my hen to set her eggs?

At what time should I consider moving her and her eggs away from my flock? Day 20 when eggs are almost ready to hatch?

nope, she got the incubation! you just need to do that candling and pulling bad eggs so they dont bomb her and the others! How is she doing on them? she is still getting off to eat well enough?
I wouldnt move until they hatch! what I found is that they stop setting then! wait until they are out and finished then move them all !

Room is at 35% i think the bator is staying between 50 and 55% since i put a sponge in

your calibrated and those temps are good, are the air cells large? if not lower it to about 30-35% until you candle and check the air cells. dont forget to move eggs around in the bator at least candle days too, in case of cold and hot spots

Yea, it was pretty crazy. The girl driving was shook up but everyone was fine (not sure about the bear though, it didn't stick around to get medical attention). They are actually a big problem on Tyndall AFB in base housing. Constantly tearing up peoples trash and nothing scares them so if they are at the trashcans, you just have to wait for them to finish eating before you can leave your house...Last year they were knocking over our beehives. Fixed that with an electric fence that would take down a bull

You must have part of the same deer herd we have. One of these days I hope to find the calendar in the woods with the hunting seasons circled in red.

I think they can read too. dangggggg pigs are nasty and I wanted to raise two for meat!

I'm hoping to get into raising a couple next year as well. Domestic hogs are fine it's the wild ones that you've gotta watch out for.
