You hatched some good looking chicks Sally. I like the light color. How is the Serama fertility going? What'd you make the kiddos for lunch? I need new ideas.....And I tried to stop feeding them to slow down their growing, but they grew anyways! I've been hungry since I saw Benny's last food picture!

I have two pips this morning in the mind Reading Bator. It's been a bit of a pain to raise the humidity in it using it's water bottle. I have it unscrewed so far to keep the water channels up that the water bottle has fallen over a couple times. Kinda stupid. The air is very dry here. Might have to plug in a humidifier. Even though it just rained, our air dries right back up....

I am in trouble now. I found a local breeder while looking for some Barred Rocks that because they have so many right now were selling fertile purebred eggs for four dollars a dozen. I could not resist so the lady who has the cabinet Incubator is filling it with some I am not doing, but I bought two dozen RIR, two dozen Barred Rocks, one dozen Welsummer, and a dozen silkie eggs. I get half.
I was proud of my coop last night it dipped into the teens, but the slightly frozen water from the run I set inside for the night and it was thawed when I grabbed it to put out this morning. I did plug the big one in just in case. I insulated with this thick foam insulation that they throw away at a business next to where I deliver(yes dumpster fishing).

Hi Everyone!! I've been busy, but I tried to catch up on the posts!!

I love visiting the snow, but I hate living in it. The worst was when your car doors locks would freeze and you couldn't unlock them - yes back then I did not have keyless entry!!

I had a roommate that hit a bear at about 65 MPH. The bear got up and started attacking the pickup. He had to wedge himself down under the crushed dash and wait for the bear to run away. No fun!

Wild pigs - crazy mean. I've been treed before. Pet pigs, the ones I have met are sweet, fat and gentle and friendly to the chickens. Mostly blind, but great sense of smell.

Congrats on all the Pipping!! And the hatching!!

Me - I swapped my 1/1 HAL eggs and the ones I set on 12/24, so now the 1/1 eggs are in the still air incubator, the 12/24 eggs with an egg turner are in the one with a fan. There is better ventilation holes in the still air, so now I have 2 very wet sponges in there and we have to add water every hour to keep the humidity between 60 - 70. I also did not use an egg carton to hatch these eggs, they are flat on the bottom of the 'bator, so lower than the first hatch I did (which I did in the one with a fan). What temp should I be running these guys at? When I had the egg turner in this one, the temps were easier to keep high. Now that these eggs are so low, its been tough. I feel like I'd actually kill the eggs trying to get the temps up.

thanks! this is that batch to hatch from all those infertiles, I have set another and they seem 50/50 so its better at least! I made mac n cheese and put crumbs on and baked it and then I made grilled cheese with ham and tomatoes for whoever wanted them, and luke put onion on his. weird child..... the kids wont poop for a week now

They love making their own little seafood nachos in the toaster oven! thats always a hit, or pizzas with whatever toppings they want out of the flour tortillas

pigs are not usually noisy. Mine make some noise when I fedd, but not as much as my goats or roo. I am still looking for you chicks. So many posts.
