I tried that once... hook kept slipping off the cubes. Finally gave up after the ice melted. I really don't see the attraction to ice fishing, to be honest...

I was thinking this as well, I thought crappies live in cover.... how you ice fish in them areas?

I only had a couple shots of Nyquil last night, the wife made sure I knew she took some tonight before going to bed. She let me sleep in this morning, went to her cousins dairy farm and took care of the calves without, it looks like I'll be alone tomorrow morning.

Some of the best Crappie are caught under the ice, using minnows or artificials.

Married to someone who goes to bed 2-3 hours before I do, and 5 days of the week is already at work when I wake up in the morning, so I get plenty of "quiet time". Not freezing my butt off in the process, either!

you fish the cover same way as with a boat silly.....the lakes I'm fishing are nothing but cover...you can get hung up too.....just like summer.
