@kwhites634 ... I spent this afternoon building and setting up my new chick feeder. Replacing the 7 lb feeder wit 2" PVC (dual 3" stacks) created a lot more room in the brooder, but my main goal is to cut down on waste. I was filling the 7 lb feed every couple of days, until I noticed at least half of the feed was mixed in the pine shavings. They can eat out of holes in the PVC, or they can scratch to get the food in the bedding, or both. The new feeder holds approximately 10 lbs of feed, so less filling... although it's much easier to fill since it's done from the outside now.

As with most all my projects it was a work in progress, so it ended up looking nothing like my original "plan" (plan = image in my head). All in all, I think it'll serve my purpose, so I'm happy with it. I may come back later and slot the top of the pipe so there's a larger feeding area. We'll see...

nice workUr!

Do you have a nipple bucket?

If you don't
With calves I let em nurse the finger(They are ALWAYS hungry) and guide the finger into the bucket.

Cows have no upper teeth though.....
we tarted to milk her to get some but she wouldn't give any.I'm at my house with him and feeding him milk

It went up by about $150. I have a full house, way too many electronics, so I can't blame it all on the heat lamps, but the bulk of it probably was.  For me, it's been cold (50's), so only on  the days that it got warmer than that, did I turn them off.
wow...how's many lamps? My bill usually runs about $250 anyway. But I have two lamps in my duck pens.so far I've run then three times for 12 hours each.

SWEET!

I am making one
or 100
You should! The materials cost about the same as a comparable sized feeder costs, so there's no reason not to!

Try again in 30 minutes, if your'e able.

She should be full of colostrum, Is her udder firm?

Sometimes those passages in the teats get clogged up or narrow/constrict

There is often thick gunk clogging up the end, as if colostrum isn't thick enough

I HAVE TWO PIPS! ...of course one is malpositioned,... and the air cells were a little small on account of the staggered hatch I had to do since the cat ate Uglybators electical wires...but they are both peeping!!! YAY! Green Egg mixes :)

edit: Uglybator is fixed now, just in case any of you were worried about him! LOL

Ur...I'm smiling...I would never ask someone to work on my stuff. I always seem to have to look at someone's car.ALWAYS....and I said it earlier today on the frog. If I was a gynecologist would they want me working on their wives on the weekend....?
