If I was looking to find a specific person, I'd shoot them a PM. The little PM logo in top right corner shows up when you have a PM.

@Akrnaf2 I am really desperate for a decent calibration Article for both thermometers and hygrometers!!!!!!! I think you would do amazing writing that for us and adding images!! Education is your thing !!!! You are great at it!! I have so much other stuff I need to do first! But I am slowly getting there! SEE BELOW QUESTION TOO!I have a question to you, incubating experts!
I saw the links of Sally and Joey about calibrating the Hygrometer,
My question is why in the boat links the humidity must get to 75%?
In the boat clips they don't take in consideration the surface of the salt mixture, the volume@ of the bag or the Taper wear, the external temp, the time of the calib. all of this parameters, have a big influence on the evaporation of water from the mixture and the relative humidity levels, so how you can say that it has to reach 75%?

the membrane looks really really white usually you can see through it some what before you wet it, but its not taught, def dried membrane, whats the inside look like? its alive yet?
This was one that I had in the Janoel. I went back and checked my notes... this was day 28 and it had looked like this for two days and was starting to slow down, as in I could hardly see it moving. The arrow is the beak.
Sadly this one didn't make it.

Air cells are not marked and its hard for me to see what you had at lockdown. pea embryos are thicker and if they die early the membrane wont thin, this one may not have been ready, but my guess is that he looks large. READ HERE: the quoted spots post #35770
GOOD on the ones that did hatch! Feb is just around the corner ha ha haSo out of 19 eggs, 10 hatched, one of the ten died (mushy chick), and one more (11th) got stuck at unzip in the middle of the night and diedperfectly formed. I'm telling myself he wAs weak, but I don't really know.![]()
This is my last hatch until end of February, mandatory per the hubby. 9 healthy chicks though![]()
I know it was a compliment I was just wondering what made you think I knew what I was doing is all. I talk to Dearest Sally........alot.![]()

when I assisted I had much better assists with Bacitracin ointment, it lets the veins viens, keeps the membrane from sticking to the chicks head, and keeps moist much much longer! @casportpony
again I cant really see air cell or size of chick...

Quote: yes, these lights were set a bit too low in the bator, I do fill it up but am rotating eggs at every turn
awww sorry about the Roo paddler. Hope you got your water lines well under by now! good luck with the resultsI'm hoping to set eggs in the next day or two.
My oldest rooster dropped dead Saturday. I'm collecting his eggs but the weather isn't cooperating. It was 6F last night and some of the eggs have gotten very cold. Some were frozen. There are only 6 hens of the same breed in his pen.
He literally dropped dead and it couldn't have happened at a worse time. Noon Saturday on a holiday weekend. The post office was going to close in 2 hours.
I went there to see if I could express mail a package to the vet school. Express shipping deadline had already passed. By the time I left there I had to figure out how to insulate and refrigerate a box. I didn't have any ice packs. Went to Target and bought 4 little ones that would fit into holes cut in the insulation but realized I couldn't get them frozen in time. Went to Cold Stone Creamery to see if I could buy some dry ice. Found out they don't use it after standing in line 15 minutes. Checked the submission page on the school's website and decided to call them for direction.
They took my number and had the student on call return my call. She said they did necropsies Saturday morning but wouldn't do any more that day. They had a dead dog so would likely do some Sunday morning. I decided to drive the bird up there after I locked up Saturday evening since she was on call till 8AM Sunday and would meet me at the lab whenever I got there.
I drove up there (3 hours one way) dropped him off, filled out the forms. The vet student said the mammalian pathologist would be doing the dog necropsy in the morning but the avian pathologist didn't like working weekends and she didn't know if she could talk him into coming in. She said if he didn't, the necropsy wouldn't be done till Tuesday morning because of MLK day. With today's gas prices (discounting the time it took), driving the bird there was cheaper then shipping. I think it is great that they have someone on call for emergencies.
The rooster came out with his flock in the morning. I saw him eating feed, kale, drinking and dancing around hens.
2 minutes later I walked past the pen and he was dead.
Here's the reason I'm setting in the next couple days.

It's another manic Monday, so it's been a little busy with a twist of crazy for me. Just dropping in during my lunch break to say howdy...... and to post some pics of a couple of my 6 week-old BR chicks. I think they're a pretty good size for 6 weeks, but then again... I've never raised chicks before. Those are Jan 1 babies in the background, so they may can be used for comparative purposes. Maybe someone with BR experience can tell more about their progress?![]()

purdy roo!!
No. Set everything at once. You may have to pull one of the oldest blues before the shipped ones arrive; cross that bridge if/when you cross it.
I agree, partially. set them all at the same time.
as for pulling the older ones, try them anyway. you will know by day 7-10 if the older ones are developing, and can toss them at that time if they do not develop.
I have had eggs almost 14 days old develop, not always, but sometimes you get lucky!
