These look like they would keep the chicks from overwatering themselves like they do with the ones I have. Great idea thanks.
It should. I've used them on birds from 2 weeks old to on-last-leg mature birds, and they work great! Rarely see a drop fall from them, and they give limited amounts of water which forces the chicks/chickens to drink only what they need. I put one of these in the run with my layers, and they won't touch the Hen Hydrator with verticle nipples anymore.

This is a really neat idea

They are good thanks :highfive:
Weather all over the place as usual, either freezing or over the top mild for the time of year!! Wet muddy and pretty damp really right now. I wouldn't be true Brit though if I wasn't moaning about the weather :D

I always read through all your hatching information threads.

I especially agree about chicks able to survive 48+ hours without food and water - doesn't mean they should.
It just means, that's what makes it possible to ship them.
Halleluiah!

Research shows, the sooner they eat and drink, the more robust they will be. A baby chick hatched in the wild will eat as soon as it comes off the nest.

That sounds exactly like the weather we have in south-central USA!!! We have a saying here that goes... if you don't like the weather, wait a day or two. Freezing cold with high humidity one day, and short-sleeve temps a couple of days later. The only thing that doesn't really change much is the humidity. It's almost always very high here. Before I went to bed last night, the temp was 30F (-1.11C) and the humidity was 80%. It's even worse in the summertime when temps reach 100F (37.77C) and the humidity is that high. We literally boil in our own sweat!

Is that on CL? I'm trying to sell my silkies for 4 and not getting many responses. I was thinking about setting up flyers in the feed stores?
I have never had silkies till this time. I priced them based on what the lady I hatch with charges. I may have to drop the price for them.

Went for a morning walk, and a little snowshoeing later. Man is it beautiful here! Made it to all the coops to get everyone water, just have the rabbits to get to yet.

I might complain about the snow, but the road is passable, my driveway is passable, I made snowshoe tracks to all the animals, everything is beautiful!

As much as the feed stores charge, I wouldn't drop the price. Though the feed stores are more of an impulse buy, so will sell faster.
How many times have we all gone into a feed store for a bag of feed, and cone out with an extra dozen chicks?
