casportspony sorry some of us call her Kat@Sally Sunshine Kat? It gets around pretty well even lame with a lot of determination. The joint is not right though. It seems bigger, but I don't know if that is from walking on it the day of hatch. The lady I hatch with said she missed that one.
@Sally Sunshine I put the flashlight on them with out moving them and it looks like 4/5 are developing![]()

yep, there are a few studies on the heat.... let me see if I can find my links for you.... if not remind me to find them because I keep switching from here to fb tyring to help someone. I switched to firefox and it is a mess of bookmarks now.Sally, I was particularly interested in something I read (in my giant binge hatch reading over the past few days) - that there was a relatively recent study indicating that INCREASED temperature at hatch was associated with better heat tolerance in chicks as adults later in life. Heat tolerance is really essential for me (which is why I have Naked Necks - and the Cream Legbars have done GREAT in the summer heat here!). I'll have to look that up to see what the circumstances were in that study, and I probably won't experiment with that this first time, but something to consider for the future....
Sweetie was looking SO cute today - as she's full NN genotype, she has fewer feathers, and she's grown some under-fuzz to keep her warm on near freezing nights. She looking like she's wearing a fur-lined coat now. (She lives up to her name, follows me around, in pic below trying to jump on my shoulder. She's my secret favorite...) Friendliest birds EVER.
Here's big man for the NN flock, Severus Snape (with a rose comb! Go figure!):
(The coop I'm working on is for them - it's SO overdue, will be done soon!!!)
