Jack's quail eggs are liable to be hatched & laying eggs of their own before he gets the rails if we don't soon get out of here. The plow guy called a bit ago & said his truck won't handle the snow; he's going to bring his bucket, sometime today....maybe....., hopefully.....we'll see.....believe it when I see it.

Don't worry , I am not stopping anytime soon, my hatchaholicism is a permanent condition!

Good morning everyone! I think I came up with the answer for my ridiculous blowing light bulb issue. Since everything was right on my end I'm gonna guess that the box either got impacted during transit or dropped off of the shelf. One of the bulbs did not work at all and two of them blew out within 24 hours. After sally sunshine asked if they flew into it, I was a little paranoid about the birds flying into the fixture and knocking it around so I bought 2 rough service bulbs and hopefully they're better. I shall see. But in summary I bought a pack of bad bulbs .

MAKE SURE THOSE ROUGH SERVICE LIGHTS ARE NOT TOXIC TO BIRDS!

Also, stay away from Halogens

Lol the way they act down here when it gets in the 60s u would think u need a snow plow , they bundle up so much look like eskimos running around here , lol they look at me funny cause im in flip flops and shorts lol

I've run rough service bulbs for years. Shouldn't be an issue.

Good morning! The chick is the same. I am getting with my vet on the older ones.
I was hoping to just put one of those heated pet pads in and steal the 100w bulb for my chicks from 1/21. Half are feathered and two are just missing a few neck/head feathers. Oh well two heat lamps in the house a few more days(cringe).

You can make a little cave with the heating pad, just make a frame for it and lay it over top.

I put mines in a trash bag to keep poopy shtuffs off'n it.

You want the cave height to be just above their back.

Will save you some money on the light bill

Rifle may be better, unless he's fairly close; no point in just wounding him so he can run off and die slowly somewhere.
