No worries, I am AMAZED at how much work you put into the list! I am definitely addicted, but I see it ending for a while. I need to re-home my silkie roo (my only roo). He is too loud, and the No Crow Rooster collar isn't working. I've used the collar before on other roos - that I didn't want, and it worked. This guy, I have to choke him before he quiets down. Anyone want him? He's the dark one in the back.wtheck! you were on it this morning! I musta screwed up more than you then!! I know you have eggs in Mrs. Addicted like the rest of us!![]()
Yes. No secret. She has a nest box out of reach of the other hens and when she has laid about a dozen eggs she'll go broody. I leave the eggs in the nest box undisturbed. This will be her third clutch since October. All my hens will do the same if their eggs are left or replaced with dummy eggs one at a time/one a day.. I have repeated this process over and over this summer, fall and winter with nine different hens. Each one went broody within a week of my prediction; most within two days.
The hen laid her sixth egg yesterday. She started clucking and walking around all fluffed up today. The pictures show the hen with her chicks five weeks ago in the nest box that contains her most recent eggs. The other picture is the four chicks all lined up on my leg.
Adorable!!!!
Getting big!
He looks good!! Definitely getting bigger!
While most of you were being snowed on, we finished the first part of one of the new coops as a brooder room. Because of the compliance issue we had, we made the LARGE coop we were building into 2 small coops (or as we started calling them - sheds).
