Howdy...popping in to say hi again...sorry maybe later I can stay and chat but...life is still going on and I gotta live it.
Hope everyone is shoveled out and warm.

Going out with my wife's boss...funny I remember him growing up with my kids. I was even his little league coach....now he's my wife's boss....

You mean fishing, right? Didn't think you rolled the other way....

Sounds like you've got the same Zoning staff we have. You can build anything here without a permit as long as it doesn't exceed two-stories or 120 sf. That's one horse stall lean-to, but no room for hay storage. Anything larger and you need a permit, which'll set you back a couple hundred and two months for bureaucracy. I made sure my coop and run were two separate structures, so they've got an alleyway connection (which the chickens LOVE to run down when the coop door opens). I think you can get away with building bigger IF the building is portable.
Yep, our compliance issue was really someone living in a motor home on our property. But the compliance officer is also in charge of building compliance, and animal keeping. So, since the original plans would have needed permits, splitting it made sense. Didn't lose too much space. Turns out the compliance officer hit it off with my dad, they had friends in common, he never asked about the chicken coops we have. Just closed out the complaint.

what kinds of veg. You intend to sow in spring?

It varies from year to year but always some old reliables.

I have four 4X40' raised beds for veggies that get rotated seasonally. I use one or two for chicken pasture for one coop with a hoop pen they can access the bed from.
There are also herb, berry, asparagus, potato and corn beds nearby.
I always grow spring greens (mesclun), spinach, lettuces, brassicas, chilies, tomatoes, tomatillos, Asian vegetables including long beans, melons, pumpkins.

I never get good "life" out of them
Ah. Same here. Some people complain about not finding incandescents any more. I suggest they use halogens because they put out heat as well.

Guess I'm used to used bulbs out of ovens that are 20 plus years old and I get a few years out of them yet
Those appliance lamps seem to last a while.

This thread is ridiculous! 560 posts since yesterday morning when I looked. I will never keep up.

It improves one's skimming skills.

Thanks for posting. It's been quite a long time since I heard that. It was popular when I was growing up.

No worries, I am AMAZED at how much work you put into the list! I am definitely addicted, but I see it ending for a while. I need to re-home my silkie roo (my only roo). He is too loud, and the No Crow Rooster collar isn't working. I've used the collar before on other roos - that I didn't want, and it worked. This guy, I have to choke him before he quiets down. Anyone want him? He's the dark one in the back.
A fine line between strangulation and suppressing the crow.
