@Sally Sunshine or ANYONE
hi sally, i tried to send you a pm but it wasnt working for me. then there was a box on the right side that said "send sally a public message" so i did. then you sent me an email that said you dont respond or receive emails. so here i am trying to send you a message on this thread...
ANYWHOOO, my Q is about my ducks in my brooder... 2 ducks have hatched and 3 are pipping. it has been 36 hrs since the first duck hatched and 19 hours since the second duck has hatched. the brooder is dirty from them hatching and it doesn't smell good.
My Q is, do i open the brooder and take the 2 ducks out and try and clean up in there so its not so dirty for the other 3 eggs that are pipping???
thanks you for any response
you can get the hatched ones out and put into their brooder, you mean they are in the bator and the bator stinks right?

Well I didn't get as far as I had planned. Started laying the tin, and would have finished before sundown... but I ran out of 1" tin screws that I like to use to screw the tin to the 1"x4"s since they don't go all the way through and split my wig. I thought I had plenty of them left over from the coop build, so I didn't bother checking...

I only got two sheets hung...

YES, SALLY THE BROODER STINKS. Will the 3 eggs that are pipping be ok if i open the hatcher/incubator and take the 2 that hatched?
can i take a min or 2 to clean the hatcher/incubator, will the ones that are pipping be ok with this?

I'm sorry, yes I do mean the bator, not the brooder.

Stinky bator..? I would take out the chicks, and if I missed it..if you have any old shells in there..take those out too. I wouldn't clean the bator though..that's me! :)

the brooder should be clean......

The bator does get stinky......

can you just lay a papertowel down fast in the bator when you grab the duckies? a damp one to cover up the poop for now?

hI... did you read my message above about my ducks in the brooder??? what do you think???
MY opinion is go ahead and do a super quick clean. Definitely okay to get the babies out. I believe once every four hours is the "okay" rate for removing babies during lockdown.
