There you are!
Late night, I see. Sorry I had to bail early; it got slow & I didn't see any future in waiting for someone to say something.
Got a question for you; kept waking up thinking about it:
Roughly how many eggs are you getting per week? Asking 'cause it seems you've always got a batch cooking & never run out.
And a good morning to you; hope your day is a super one.

Oh no.... I didn't candle them yet, will they be okay???

Wow, I did so many things wrong..... I am using an auto turner. I really should turn them by hand to ensure temps dropping, right?

Mornin Sunshine!

Mornin, sounds like you are getting CHICKS soon!!!

Oh, by all means, turn them manually in the intervals between them being turned automatically. Better candle again, too, in case something's changed in the last 15 min.

I will be thankful when hens start doing the hatching, but our flock is from spring last year, then I can actually get some sleep. Got 2 hens that will be laying by spring and re-homed 2 roosters that hatched with the last ones. I just keep a dry erase board next to it then transfer the notes to file on the computer lol

Candled yesterday due to the temp spike and seeing movement inside but no egg movement you can see outside yet,there was one questionable, now just to wait for Tuesday

It's ok. I keep a notebook next to the bator as well. I think mine also has a permanent nose print on the window:oops:

Morning dudes and dudettes! I'm awake, wide-eyed, and bushy-tailed. Just fed the chickens and since it's not raining I split up a small bale of alfalfa hay for them to scratch up. How's everyone?

So I was babying the chick from earlier, giving it electrolyte water and honeyed water. It's still peeping mightily but its legs are still stiff and curling under it. Then I noticed that one hock is whitish under the skin and it's knuckles are also whitish. Any thoughts, could this be an infection?

It's right hock is discolored.

Left leg is tightly curled, but I can unfurl it manually.

@Sally Sunshine
@casportpony
is this chick walking on its hocks perhaps?

Good morning!
By next week at this time I will have my eggs set. They should ship Wednesday and arrive Friday or Saturday. I'm a bit nervous about this hatch. I wish my cockerels had figured out how to mate the hens so I could test the bator on free eggs, but my flock goals involve getting this all figured out more quickly so I bit the bullet on shipped eggs. I want my Brabanter flock going strong by summer. At only 15 eggs/ hatch I'll be hatching every single month until December.
Maybe I'll be inspired to build my 32 egg incubator. I'm gathering free materials now. I'm going to raid my Dad's garage because he saves everything. And my garage because I take after my Dad. Haha.
I also have to get my coop arranged for separating my Brabanters from the rest of my flock. Lots of waiting and building in my future. I hope everyone is well.
every single month!!! sweet!!!!

good morning everyone

actually got some sleep for a change that was a shock to the system 5 hours uninterupted lol

Can't wait for weather to get warmer here all the chickens are laying again , and after showing them the baby chick before it got to gold, got several thinking about actually brooding themselves lol
