I had mine in a cage, with plenty of water and food, a box to hide in, and a covered roof. Covered 2 sides too. The quail goes and sits in the sun and died of heat stroke... On an 85 degree day!

I have one on a cheapo timer that come on around 10:30 and off at 3

Basically the hottest parts of the day

I haven't had the "R" put in front yet. I had a nuclear bone scan last January and they said I have degenerative changes in some bones (feet mostly) but said no RA. The chest is recent; hope it eases up when the weather warms. My hands get worse when I drink lots of cokes, or spend too much time on my phone.

I quit Coke years ago after I saw what it does to raw meat    
Works great for getting rid of corrosion on automotive batteries, though.

Cleans a gas tank great as well.

The chickens were not even panting or holding their wings out.... Quail guy in my neighborhood keeps his outside, and they do wonderful....
I do want to get some, after ducks... And maybe some peas....

That's weird! I kept a dozen bobwhites in a recall pen (no top) year 'round, with a roosting box on the end, and they were fine; laid eggs like crazy & flew well enough.
