So you only sent him away with ONE rooster and NO turkeys? :th

I was going to send a hen with him too but when I caught her and brought her in, she just didn't look right. I'm not sure what's wrong with her. She hasn't been laying lately is is walking a little like a penguin. I'm curious if she laying internally. I'm keeping my eye on her right now.

why the sad face? all males? dont you process?

awwww thank you I updated the post with the timeline

awww sorry about the crossbeak, can it eat?

how the poults doing?

Poults are doing great! The ones from the first hatch are all sold and at least half the ones that are due tomorrow are reserved! I just need a good hatch now :) at least one is pipped so far and one under my broody is tapping away :)

Good morning neighbors! :frow

I set nine svart hona eggs last night in my styro LG. :weee Not my first hatch in it, so I'm prepared for it's quirks. First hatch for honas though!! I'm testing the fertility for my own pair.

Cerebral hernia (bone) and skull knob (grease) both make the surface bigger which implicate more place for bigger crests.
In Polish (which is a breed for (big) crests) it is recognised, in Silkies (which is a breed wanted for (big) crests) it is not recognised even not wanted in Europe but recognized in US.

Genetic analysis of this family revealed that cerebral hernia is controlled by a single autosomal recessive gene and is closely associated with crest formation. Furthermore, our morphological analysis of brain structures in the progenies suggested that the significant enlargement of brain cavity at later stages of embryos, particularly after 15 days of incubation, may be the main cause of cerebral hernia. What The Heck Is A Vaulted Skull?

A vaulted skull is a hole or unclosed portion of bone in the top portion of the Silkie’s skull. This genetic trait was introduced into Silkies via crosses with the Crested Polish breed of chickens. The Polish were bred into Silkies to improve and create a larger crest size. Often chickens are bred to another breed to get new colors, traits and types.

Here you go, @Sally Sunshine! Possibly the most unflattering Avatar to date, but, it makes me smile...

This was our sweet Australorp "V.V.", at 1 week old. Speaking of- I am looking for Australorp eggs for the Easter HAL, if anyone can point me in the right direction. I've searched BST to no avail... TIA!

It's so weird, too, temps and humidity are PERFECT for lockdown but I still don't have anything happening!
