Ok this is my first post on this site so first off HI :)

I have been on BYC for a few weeks doing research and I have 3 eggs in a still air home made incubator. they are currently midway through day 5 (2 dorking, and 1 brown layer hen? x dorking mix) they are doing very well I can see all 3 hearts beating which is awesome! BUT tomorrow I am getting 2 more dorking or possibly buff orpington x dorking eggs for hatching. I have been searching this site top to bottom and cant find if it would hurt the new eggs to have them in the incubator during hatching of the other ones. they would be 5-6 days behind the first group. the new eggs would be at about 13 days when I have to put the first group into lockdown. I'm worried that the high humidity would kill the babies of the second group. :(

you never should have vent plugs in after day 10

Researchers have found that lowering temperatures will prolong incubation,
HOWEVER it is favourable to do so at the end of incubation.

Well i know that now

And since that chick hatch my humidity is at 73
that is ok for lockdown but not ok the first 18 days

O2 deprivation to day 10 of incubation followed by regular oxygen concentrations leads to stronger chicks post #33815
PUT THE RED VENT PLUGS IN FOR THE FIRST 10 DAYS ONLY and then REMOVE ALL VENT PLUGS for the rest of the hatch!
NEVER USE VENT holes as a means to Control HUMIDITY especially during HATCH DAYS!

HUMIDITY Humidity is NOT a set number!
Its a tool to get the correct weight loss in the egg!

WHY do we need less humidity to get the best weight loss for colored hatching eggs during incubation? post #36320
