Quote: Humidity in my Janoel is also hard to regulate. No water and it drops to 10%, one channel full and it goes to 40-50%. If I use it again for incubating I will try just a very small bowl of water.

My first batch I did at about 45-55% humidity, none lost enough weigh, and all died in the last week. This last time I did ~30% and hatched 47%.

I'm trying to keep mine around 30% this time. They're in my Janoel, and while I've had great hatch rates out of it with other eggs, the digital humidity read out is all over the place. I'm just adding very little water to it and watching my air cells.

I just pour very little in it at a time, and don't put any more in until the alarm goes off. I have both of mine set to where the alarm won't go off unless it reaches 0. I know there's no way that the thing is reading right. I just hatched 3 out of 4 Cochins with it though. All 4 should've hatched, but the other one was pipped at the wrong end and got stuck while it was zipping. The others had rolled it over to where I couldn't see that it was pipped, and it was gone by the time I checked it.Humidity in my Janoel is also hard to regulate. I think I've seen this before. I'm on my first hatch with mine right now.

Try covering the well(s) with a piece of plastic to reduce exposed surface area. I covered 2/3 of my smallest well and it kept the humidity exactly where I wanted it...I just pour very little in it at a time, and don't put any more in until the alarm goes off. Quote: Good idea. What did you cover it with?
