Came home to 6 pips total, pipping right where I expected them to (five more than this AM). All are cheeping encouragement to each other. But for some of the eggs that I had a hard time noting draw down in the air cell (rounder eggs, I might note), I was worried that I picked the wrong position and laid it wrong side up. Sure enough, there's a seventh that has externally pipped on underside of the egg/toward the bottom of the incubator - I did not position it correctly (because there was no draw down yet at lock down). It's in one of those little baskets (keeping track by hen), so I don't know how much it would be able to roll. I know it's there because there's a little shell fragment under it.

QUESTION: I'm assuming I should NOT open the incubator at this time (ambient humidity is 32%) - will this chick be ok pipping upside down? (Clearly she's through the shell and getting air, there's a decent chunk of egg shell under there...) @Sally Sunshine

Just wanted to check really quickly, maybe get some reassurance....

Or just not give a Dam and make sure they know this!! That's my method.
