Everyone is molting at one stage or the other. Mayhem in the coop. Restless Rockettes falling from their perches. Mr Wyandottey isn’t helping, and I told him so today. All the birds are on “feather fixer” feed, with some scratch and safflower seed for treats.
It’s raining feathers everywhere

I meant too high for you to reach them easily to remove for snuggles!🙃. But at least they aren't roosting in the rafters(yet!).
Oooh!
Geronimo is clearly considering the rafters. She did fly onto my head yesterday. Not as a friendly gesture - I stood up in her flight path!

I just broke up a fight between the two mama hens with chicks. The one with eight pecked the head of the curious single chick. Mama got furious and attacked!!
Poor Mr Wyandottey stood right there, not really knowing what to do. I told him “jump in between them buddy stop that fight!”
He didn’t, so I did. They looked like it was a fight to the death. I have had enough orphans on my plate, I am no longer set up for raising babies in the house. :barnie

Yep same here.

And to make it worse all the ones moulting are the sick ones 😢😢😢

The worst today is Daisy, poor girl has it bad, and in her eyes also. Clyde is really rattly, and Goldie. All the others are breathing better, Chickie-Chick, Little Mouse and Pepper all were sniffly and sneezing so they got drenched with Tylosin directly.

Their water and their porridge all have Tylosin - just hitting them hard with the antibiotics so they can get over it fast. Mr P is better today after I dosed him last night, still rattly a bit but not coughing, I drenched him and Tylenol also - he’s an old man and I want him to be comfortable.

I really feel for Clyde tonight, it’s going to be cold (below freezing here) but I didn’t want to close up the barn, I thought about putting him in a crate in the feedroom to stay warm, but I figured he’d be stressed without his ladies. He is moulting and his feathers are just not thick at all. It’s funny because Fluffy is so thick and she’s also a frizzle.

Time to hang the sweeter heater for him at night.

I hate winter so much. I am absolutely dreading it, and if I could easily get everyone to Spain I would hop on a plane and go there! But alas, I doubt they’d let me bring my chooks there!

Wattle ya have?
